One of the greatest days of my life. We sat in the EZ where most of the big plays occurred: Bleier's TD, Jackie Smith's drop, Franco's rumble, Lynn's leaping TD catch.

yes, that was a great moment in steelers history. that is a great view to watch the game. I remember watching this game with my dad and I was so nervous throughout the game.

They were always in January until after 9/11. I believe they were in early Jan until the league made the season longer.

    I second the motion.

I've just spent far too long trying to identify the Steeler rolling around on the grass...

Don't think that 9/11 was the catalyst. I think it was more the mandatory bye week caused by having an odd number of teams because of the pity f*ck the NFL threw the city of Cleveland in granting them another franchise.

13 was the greatest Super Bowl ever in my opinion. THAT many Hall of Famers on the field at one time and both teams are STILL legendary. You old timers didn't know what you were watching really. That's usually the way it goes though.

That game sealed my fate as a Steeler fan at 8 years old with a family of NY Giant fans. Still the only Steeler fan in my family, outside my wife and kids, of course. I wouldn't let them do to me, what I did to my dad....

This game gets overlooked when they mention greatest Super Bowl ever, it's still probably my favorite Super Bowl.

Great game! Too close for comfort at the end, though. My favorite memory of that game is Franco getting in Hollywood Henderson's grill just before busting off tackle for the touchdown.

That is one of the most awesome runs ever. What is even more awesome about it is the fact that the cowgirls like to act like they could match our physicality and then get "picked" by the ref. LOL.

My dad likes the cowgirls but he's not nearly as hardcore about them as I am the Steelers and I don't think it really bothers him that I like them. He is actually always for them when we go to games every year. Now he wouldn't be if we were at a Dallas game though. But if my little Ben comes to me one day and says "dad I need to talk to you. I know you did the best you could in raising me and I know how highly you value morality and right and wrong. And I know there are certain things that you consider to be bad. And I don't want to disappoint you and know that you have certain expectations for me but I have came to the conclusion that I am a ravens fan..." I would honestly be CRUSHED if that happened. Or if he said the cowgirls. But ultimately I would love him anyway. LOL. There are a few things I hope I never hear my kids say. One of them is that they are a fan of a team that I hate. The other is that they are the member of a certain political party that I also hate. Most other things I think I could stomach. LOL.

Unfortunately, this is one of only four pictures that have survived. It's a shame. I don't know what happened to all of the other pictures my dad took. I have the program we got at the game, but I left the ticket stub in our hotel in Ft. Lauderdale.

Yep. Face value was $30. But we didn't pay for our tickets; my family had connections with the Seahawks organization and got some of their freebies.

Because of those connections, I had gone to SB XII the year before, and SB XIV the year after (Steelers-Rams). But XIII was by far the most fun because we actually spent the whole week in Miami leading up to the game. We flew back to L.A. on Monday and turned out, all of the Steelers Pro Bowlers were on our flight--back then, the Pro Bowl was in L.A.

With 9/11 they had to bump it back a week, and so it was the first one in February. While that may not have been the reason, I think it convinced the NFL that they could do it in February. For a period of time, after the league went to 17 weeks with a Bye week, the NFL didn't have the week off between the championship games and the Superbowl. Once they realized they could successfully play the Superbowl in February, they reinstated the bye week. More money I guess as they had more build up to the big game.

If they extend the playoffs that will push the Super Bowl to mid February won't it?
