True, Tomlin made it to two Super Bowls with a lot of Cowher's guys but it took Cowher 13 years to win one himself with his guys. Tomlin makes some baffling moves sometimes but so did Cowher. I'm sure we can remember the AFC title game untra-conservative gameplans.

If Cowher had Ben all 15 year there would have been more than 1 superbowl win. You can have a good team, but a good QB is what put you over the top.

why in the world are people questioning Tomlin? the players love him. he wins and he is not going anywhere. look at the nfl and the teams who have players questioning their coach. you wont see that with tomlin and the man is not going to put up with any bs. sure you can argue about his staff and the way the team performs, but what team would not take him. I even know pats fans who are getting tired of belicheats routine. to answer the question he coaches that is what he does. watch some of the shows when the coaches are miked and you will see what he does. I dont see alot of nfl coaches that are on the sidlines coaching a whole lot during games. they have to much going on. they have to watch every play because of challenges so they dont have alot of time for one on one time. that is what the staff is paid for

But Cowher didn't see things like that. Obviously there's only one Ben, but my point is that Cowher never went for QBs. He didn't even want to draft Ben, or so the story goes.

Andy Reid is the worst coach at clock management. No one come close to him.

The only time I think they waste timeouts is when Ben tries to get the D to jump offsides on 4th and short. They should take the delay of game instead.

As far as hiring assistants, Kugler and Lake look pretty good.

How can you draft a guy like Ben if you are always playing in the AFC Championship game? Typically that puts you drafting at the end of each round....

I like Tomlin a lot, but I do wish he had a little more fire in his belly. I think that his being a little too calm and collected for my taste sometimes leaves the team feeling a little flat. I think that our morale and energy have a lot to do with how we play, and that's one thing that's really working against us right now. For example, Ben's game Monday night had to be deflating to the team, but if it had been CB or DD, it wouldn't likely have had as much of that effect since a stellar performance wasn't necessarily expected).

Anyhoo... Tomlin is a local boy for me, growing up around where I did (and worked at my favorite drinking establishment to boot!). He's a straight up good guy who comes back to his roots to visit (including said bar), and I can't fault him for that.

A good point well made. My point was more that Cowher never seemed to be that concerned about our lack of a top tier qb, not because of necessity or available personnel, but rather because of his philosophy.

If he wins a few more superbowls with the black and gold I'll vote for him. I voted for Lynn Swann.

Ben had a bad game but I believe tomlin was looking into the future of the toughness of his qb.He said he could go and batch showed nothing better so he kept him in there. When I heard ben was hurt I thought they would go to short pass and run game. The only thing that disturb me about tomlin is that he micro manage and not take control of sideline. All of the veterans that he inherited from cowher are gone or heading out so now is the time for him to take control.

Regarding dirtly looks at his coordinators, there is a school of thought about keeping your family issues in the house. It is often used for displaying a unified front. In regard to his lack of yelling at people, that may not be his style to do it all the time (I have seen him do it, before, just infrequently). Some people don't blow their stack. It's a matter of style. Further, he believes whatever BS the refs are on, a team playing well will play through it (and indeed if the Steelers play error-proof then the refs cannot make themselves a factor).

You'll have to tell me what you define as "...defend his players through fines and suspensions." Because I suspect you and I have different viewpoints on what that looks like.
