I'd call it a wash as of right now. They know what they had or have in both guys. I don't think Jones deserves a spot on the team next year. I am thinking and hoping they can certainly do better. I think AR is still floating out there maybe they bring him back in for another shot. Maybe it was a attitude thing that needed adjusting.i don't think any of us know for sure because he seemed to have some talent. They need to turn over every rock and find a couple of OLBs to supplant the lack of talent we have at the back up spots. Chris Carter has to be pushed out,his time is up.

Considering that Jones pretty much played and was somewhat productive in every game this season and Robinson didn't do squat for any of the four teams he's been on since he was traded, I'd say NO!

At the time, it was the right move.

I'm disappointed that Jones didn't amount to more, but this was in part due to the success of Bell, and I'm not going to complain about that.

I agree. In the end, it still proved to be a good move IMO.

I think if they really wanted to have had him back this year they could have on multiple occasions. They chose not to do that. There MUST be something they don't like.

I think it was a good move. Jones did fairly well for what he was asked to do. Nobody should have expected him to come in and light it up/etc. And he did help fill in for Bell while he was out. Then become a fairly dependable backup and came in based on the situation and did well. I think he fit here fairly nice. I think an RB stable of Bell, Jones, Dwyer and LSH would be a solid 4-some!

:this!: With Bell doing so well in the second half of the season I think we kind of forget how our RB situation was when we picked up Felix. He was picked up because we literally didn't know who we could put back there. LSH and Bell got hurt, Dwyer and Redman were awful.

Will LSH still be with the team now? I think Bell is gonna make it tough for LSH and Jones to justify a roster spot. Felix Jones played ok and I'd say for what we got him for it wasn't a bad deal.

I absolutely think LSH is going to be on the team. Bell and Dwyer alone will not cut it. LSH is our lightning quick back that can hit home run.

I actually think the best advantage to having him is the fact that he can return kicks and we really need that. I just wonder how he's coming along with his ACL.

Jones doesn't add anything to this offense that LSH can't do better and his kick returns are nothing to write home about. Moye or Sanders should have beeen returning kick offs.

You know, it is puzzling that he has not caught on anywhere since leaving here.

I was waiting to see what mac daddyo thought about the move before I posted.

Anyway, here is what I recall about him. It was rumored he got on the head coach's s-list. [I have been hearing some fans in the bars referring to the HC as the Kingfish??. Not sure if that is a complimentary tribute or not??]But anyway usually when this happens the player is gone.'

When he was added to the Bronks 53 he played mostly ST's. He was released after game 6 because the GB Packers tried to claim one of their WR's from the practice squad and Denver brought the player up to their 53 so as not to lose him. Denver was 6-0 at the time so AR did not contribute to any losses.

Meanwhile Pit was 1-4[had a bye] and being tramped on regularly. Near the bottom of the league in rush D etc. Some thought the LB situation contributed to this a lot.

No one replied to an inquiry then to bring him back. How could it have hurt??? There was absolutely no response. I think the fans were in some kind of state of shock or something. [We fans might have to get used to this unless somehow TS find like 4-6 Hof types in the next few years]

Now this is just speculation on my part, but I do think the rift was real and it is very doubtful even if he was a Lawrence Taylor whether he would be back. I'm basing this guess on the HC's past performance in these type matters.

Whether or not it was a mistake depends on whether he is as good or better than say Chris Carter who is really next to nothing.

If LSH is back healthy? We will draft
another RB and cut Felix Jones.
    So you have Bell,Dwyer,LSH,Johnson
    player yet determined.

It amounted to be an inconsequential move, but there was more good to it than bad.

so much depends on what we do with worilds and Woodley. robinson would have left us with better depth at that spot for this year if we lose either guy. I do think he had some better upside than carter does, but if they lose anyone this year, we may have to keep carter.

westerman is interesting though. he's got better size for the outside. I just wonder if carter could play inside at all, possibly allowing us to dump larry foote finally.

Good enough to get cut before the end of training camp.

they cut him a week later. I'm not anointing him as a superstar but he had upside in our defense.

jones filled in when we needed him and was more up to speed with the ZBS that we were trying to install at the time.

I'm looking at next year if we lose worilds and want to cut Woodley loose though. JJ and carter leave us pretty thin at OLB. it would have been nice to have robinson in his 3rd or 4th year waiting in the wings and may have made it easier to decide what to do with worilds and Woodley having some depth, besides carter.

felix is buried on the depth chart too. I think he was more of a one season rental. did we really have to give up robinson to get him? at the time he seemed disposable, but now would have been much more valuable to us. that's all. remember it takes guys awhile in this defense and he was pretty far into it. now we could possibly starting over with a new player after a couple of year investment that we let walk away.

When Robinson was here, I think there was a general sense that we were loaded at LB. Robinson wasn't as good as Thaddeus Gibson, but it was a similar move in that respect.

Then when the season started, the general sense seemed to be that we were lacking depth at LB for the first time in ever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the sense I got. Question is: when did we get weak at LB, and why?

foote brought back. Woodley playing part time. Harrison cut. Sylvester brought back. carter kept. kion Wilson kept. keith butler for all the praise he gets has really not brought any LB'ers along for depth at the position. worilds played half a season before we moved him to Woodley's spot and he finally played better there. we are in LB hell right now. nowhere close to what we have been in the past.

    Good points Mac.

Jarvis Jones need to take that next step this upcoming season.

Been waiting for Spence to come around, in which I hope he does. But it's a big IF! I believe an ILB will be on the radar this draft somewhere.

Woodley. Man I hope they let him go and sign Worilds.

Foote is going backwards. A stop gap. Williams stepped in and played well as a rook. Can he improve and hold on to the spot?

Carter i'm ok with. Wilson special teamer. Definitely need depth.
