Guys I like that you left out:

    Love - Sammy Watkins (WR-Clem) 6'1'' 205. Lamarcus Joyner (CB-FSU) 5'8'' 190. Bradley Roby (CB-OSU) 5'11'' 192.
    Like - EJ Gaines (CB-Mizzou) 5'10'' 195. Ha-Ha Clinton Dix (S-Bama) 6'1'' 208. Louis Nix (NT-ND) 6'2'' 345. Ryan Shazier (LB-OSU) 6'2'' 230.

The only way I'd be pissed with our picks in the first 3 rounds is if we took a QB, RB, OL, or DE. I doubt we go TE or NT super early, but I could be wrong. An early CB and LB are probably musts. WR is very probable in the early rounds too.

but why take a cb in round one when they need 3 years to develope in our system ? look at k.lewis tonight , he was great , when he was here seems a bust till the the 3rd year . i suspect even if you take a more ready one they willl take some time . so goes for people that can make our offense unstoppable while you develope a mid rds picks , and maybe take another w.gay from the streets .:hmmm:

I don't get all the love for Barr, I watched him play three different times this season and he did not even look like the best LB on his own team; I think he is over-hyped and will be a bust. One player I do love in the third or fourth round is Deone Buchanon S WSU.

I agree with that.... I would like Louis Nix, but I am not sure that is a need with the way Mclendon played...

Matthews in the second would be awesome. Lyerla has probably a zero percent chance of being drafted by the Steelers. He has trouble...keeping his nose clean.

Agree with QB and RB, but why OL or DE? OL is always in need of upgrade, and who knows what DE's will be coming back. Personally, I would be surprised if we went CB round one. Not blown away surprised, but surprised.

I wouldn't go OL early because we have a very young OL that is starting to gel together nicely. I'd rather bring in a vet in FA who we know will help out than spend a high draft pick on an unknown commodity who may or may not improve our line.

DE only depends on who we bring back, but we drafted a DE last year and promoted a rookie to the 53 man roster late in the year. I doubt that we let both Hood and Kiesel walk since signing either one of them would be pretty cheap. I hope its Hood for age's sake. We would have Nick Williams and Arnfelt as back ups, and Woods backs up both NT and DE. We can address the DL early in later years, I just dont think it is a pressing need at this point.

I think we have somewhat of a shot at going CB in round one since it is our biggest hole as a team IMO, but it is such a deep draft at the position that we can get really good value later. We have to get one in the first 3 rounds tho, because that player will more than likely be a starter for us in 2014. We should get a second CB in the draft as well, but not till rounds 4-7. I bet we go some combo of WR - CB - LB in the first 3. After that we could draft any position but QB and I'd be alright with it.

While over the last few years the team has gone o then d then o then d in the 1st round, I expect that to change, if they feel the best player available is a defensive player. Specifically CB or ILB. If they do go offense, do we really want a wr in the first? Like RB's, you sometimes don't really know what you are going to get. Look at two of our more productive wr's the last 15 years, AB and Hines. Neither were first rounders. Whereas the team has had some disappointments drafting wr in the 1st or 2nd round. Other than Holmes, I don't recall a whole lot of success in the early rounds.

Plaxico Burress was a 1st round pick. With these WR's and CB's it depends on their 40 yd dash times which can move them up or down in the draft, especially those big WR's if they run fast the better prospect they become.

If I was going to pick draft order right now based on value coupled with need, I would go the way listed below.

First here is my areas of NEED:

WR - With Sanders probably leaving and potentially Cotchery, we can't go into next year with Brown, Moye, Wheaton, and Brown.
TE - If we are okay with Palmer or Paulson as the #3 since he doesn't play that much, we may wait a year here
ILB - We could stay LB by committee, but I would be surprised if we did that. Timmons is basically our only solid starter. Spence, Garvin, Wilson, and Williams are all somewhat unknowns.
OLB - If Worilds walks or Woodley is cut...and even if they aren't...we are really weak here. If I am an undrafted LB/DE who likes to rush the QB....I am signing with Pittsburgh.
CB - Gay and Allen...that is all we got.
S - I am okay here, but would love to see an upgrade.
DE - we only have one veteran under contract. Hood and Woods are must resign to me with Keisel coming back at a vet. player minimum if he is willing.

So my draft order...at the moment.

    1. WR
    2. TE
    3. CB
    4. OLB
    5. CB
    6. BPA
    7. BPA

Its too bad too, because he is a player. I hope it doesn't take him off our board completely, because he could help our team. If he is still around with a 6th compensatory or in the 7th, we should take him. He would definitely be BPA at that point, and if he can't lay off the snow bird then cut him. Its very rare that 7th rounders make the team anyways, so he's almost no risk that late in the draft anyways (IMO). We have to try to snag a guy or two that are top tier talent that slip towards the end of the draft for some personal reasons sometimes. Not every year, but once every few years you'd be stupid not to.

Don't see it happening, not after the obvious effort to draft quality character guys last year. I agree with the Rooneys, I prefer not to take these head cases, most of the times their problems resurface.

In theory I agree with you 100%,but damn if we would of just took a flier on Burfict we would be set at ILB. I know he's still a bit of a head case, but he can ball. He and Timmons would be scary together. Sometimes proper leadership is all that's needed to straighten someone out.

if divide a locker room you cut him and don't lose nothing , if pan out you have a pro bowler with a 7 rd pick

no way he makes it to 7th round. someone will take him earlier. how would you feel if it was a 3rd or 4th round pick?

Damage is already done by that point, hence, a divided locker room.

Didn't Burfict just take some costly PF penalties in yesterday's game. No thanks to knuckle heads.
