While I was extremely disappointed by the Steelers lackluster performance in SF Monday night I still remain a "glass half full" kinda guy. I may be in the minority but I'm ok with that and here's why.

We still have a shot at the two seed (yes, I said it) and here's why:

Steelers win out and finish 12-4.
Ravens lose one game (most likely at Cincy) and finish 11-5.
    Thus we win the division,
    But wait, there's more.
Houston will lose one game either at Indy this week or home to the Titans the following week and also finish at 11-5.
The Jets will lose at least one game and perhaps two games. They finish with the Giants next week and then at Miami and could finish 10-6.
Why is the Jets outcome important you ask?
Because we need one Jets loss to make the Bengals game against the Ravens mean something for the Bengals, which would be the sixth seed.
If all of this happens and I know, it's a lot....the Steelers finish no worse than the #2 seed and a bye and home playoff game.

Now should the Patriots lose one of their remaining two games (which I doubt as they are home for Miami and Buffalo) they would also finish 12-4 and thus the #1 seed would then belong to the Steelers...highly unlikely, but one can dream, right?

Now if all of this happens (crossing-fingers), then #6 Bengals go to the Texans as the #3.
Then #4 Broncos (most likely) would host the #5 Ravens.
Ok, let's say the Texans and the Ravens win. Then that means that the Texans come to the Burgh and the Ravens go to the Patriots.
Is it that farfetched in this scenario, that the Ravens beat the Patriots and the Steelers beat the Texans and then the Ravens come to the Burgh for another AFC title game? I think not! This is my Christmas wish!

Disclaimer.........if I have something wrong with these scenarios/possibilities, let me know!

    GO STEELERS!!

Love the enthusiasm! Makes me want to suit up myself! Lets get Ben and a few others a little rest and take care of these last two and oddly enough cheer for the Bengals in week 17! I still believe in our team and everyone knows what we are capable of come playoff time. Here we go Steelers, here we go! I want Lombardi number 7! I want Goodell to have to walk up to our celebration and hand over the hardware! Oh and Merry Christmas Steeler Nation!

I'm sorry. I need at least 72 hours following a loss to get all rosy and sunny. ;)

But anything can still happen. I just hope momentum starts building soon.

The way I look at it, Season #1 ended on Sunday. That was when the Steelers clinched the post season - the first priority of any winning football team. Season #2 has 2 more weeks and is all about positioning. Since the Steelers don't have much control over that, while playing well and getting hot going into the post season is important, it's more important IMO to get healthy. If they win out and the cards fall their way, then so much the better. If not, then Season #3 is what I am focused on. Whether they are the 1 seed or the 5 seed, I'm glad they are in the playoffs where ANYTHING can happen. It'll be a 4 game season, getting progressively more difficult.

There's NOTHING like playoff football and perhaps we Steelers fans have gotten spoiled by getting to experience it year after year. We take it for granted that they will be playing in January. The fact that the Steelers have been to and won more playoff games than any other team since 1972 gives us the right to be spoiled, I guess, but I always remind my son that there may come a day when things won't be so rosy and we should enjoy it while it lasts. The 80's were painful, but at least we were competitive. How will we feel when we go 5,6,8 or 10 years without being in the picture?

So, here's to season #3 - starting January 8! I, for one, am going to enjoy every extra game this team gets to play, wear my jersey and wave my terrible towel until there are no games left.

    GO STEELERS!

Im over the loss, I just dont think we are are a #1 Seed. If it falls into our lap, then great but right now, I am fine with making the playoffs and being the fifth seed :beard:
