I'd sure love to get another feature back in the draft, because this O won't run nearly as effective without bell. how about bell being spelled by carlos hyde? oh baby. dwyer may be alright, but he's not near as effective if he's got to start.

It is a 16 game season BF
Also I think guys are bs'ing when they say we would be in the playoffs if we had just won another game. True but if the refs do their job in KC we're in now.
Everyone knows Levy hates us. He should not be calling any game that has anything to do with us which means. HE SHOULD BE FIRED!

I understand that, but the team did improve over the course of the season.

Im with you about the KC game, it was botched and in all likely hood cost us a playoff spot, if he makes the next kick.

exactly...plus injuries and a new offensive line were part of it....

BF-- I wonder if the same people saying that that its bull S would be willing to give back super bowl 40 since we were 7-5 at one point... :goofy:

BF. Agree but like I said. The season did not go down to the last 7 games. All 16 count.

7, No I wouldn't want to give back the ring. We played that game and all, ALL the others that season. We were 7-5 and won the next 7 games. Different story. Levy didn’t try to screw us till after the season. During the off season as a matter in fact.

On the kick. KC also took the ball off of KC before the guys helmet came off. He also did not make the line of gain. Worse case there is KC had the ball on a stop on 4th down

No, but I do think that speaks to his (Costal's)point that you can't just throw out part of the season when making the grade, and that you have to look at all 16 games.
I do like the way we finished after that 0-4 start and I think this team is on the rise as long as we don't lose too many key players next year. another good draft and we are a year or two away from being a serious contender.

No one is throwing out part of the season, just pointing out how much better they were playing at the end of the year.

And they will be contending next season

actually the first 4 games killed us...the team started to get healthy and the offensive line also started to play better....since they were the youngest in the league at the start of the year they have made strides...

No mulligans allowed. You need to consider scoring 9 points vs. Tenn, Ben's 4 turnovers vs. Chi, and the AB/Ben disaster vs. Oakland. Yes, the O was exceptional the 2nd half, but you need to consider those early games, which is why the grades need to reflect that.

No actually levy killed us in the KC - SD game. I know we sucked early. Bottom line levya****s missed three calls and every one of them bit us in the butt

Then not than and we didn't put us there. Levy did. It still doesn't matter what we did or didn't do before. What it is, is, what it is. Unlike Billy Clinton, I know what is, means.

By the by, Fat boy Reid just got paid back for sitting his starters all last game.
8 out of 10 times when you do that, you pay the price later. Did not the colts sit their starters in the last game of 2005?

We are not crybabies...We dont blame our losses on officiating or other teams outcomes. We own our record. Its ours NO BLAME.Chin up lets hope we do better next season. We after all are THE 6 TIME SUPER BOWL CHAMPION PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!! NO EXCUSES.

Not crying and yes we should have played better earlier. However, A turd is a turd and no matter what guck foodel says, you cannot pick one up by the clean end!
three blown calls by levy cost us playing tomorrow in Cincy. That's a fact

Yes, the Steelers (as a whole) should grade out like an 8-8 team. But, you should consider the fact that the personnel that started the year was vastly inferior to the personnel that finished it. The weeks 1-4 Steelers weren't even the same team that we saw weeks 12-16. We started the season with Redman starting at running back... Isaac F'ING Redman! Bell brought a dimension to this offense that we havent had in years, and he only got better as the year progressed. Since Pouncey made it all of 5 snaps we basically started a line consisting of Adams, Foster, Beachum, DD, Gilby. Signing Velasco and replacing Adams with Beachum (that and giving up on the ZBS) basically turned our line from the one of the worst ever to one that was pretty solid to end the year. We started Paulson and D. Johnson at TE to begin the year :( both of whom are gigantic scrubs... Heath and Spaeth are astronomical upgrades there... And that's only on offense. We had about half a defense full of first year starters (C.Allen, JJ, Heyward, McLendon, V.Williams, Worilds... and Shamarko playing some nickel too) All of whom elevated their game as the year went on (Heyward and Worilds in particular, and JJ and Williams too since they both started out so awful and became solid towards the end).

I get the argument that you cant just throw away the 0-4 start because they still count. But the Steelers arent the same team that they started out as. If the grade was after week 4? F. Big fat F. Looking at the team as it is now, it is hard not to be pretty excited about the next few years in the Burgh. Really good football is soon to come.

Where do you see one negative comment in my post about foster.........

And how does my comment about pouncey at guard make no sense.... yes, he's best at c, but if we keep velasco, then the o-line would be strongest with pouncey at guard.... we did the exact same thing with legursky

And just for the record.... I saw every min. Of every game

Sorry, my fault, I should have been more clear...I wasn't saying that your post was negative...I was talking about other comments that I have seen complaining about foster...I didn't explain myself well enough...

as far as pouncey to guard...we did that out of desperation...Legs was not a very good guard....it makes no sense because foster was very solid at guard and pouncey is an all-pro center..imo top 5 in the league...you would be downgrading at center....

you also need to consider that we didn't have leveon bell, heath miller, and the youngest o-line in the league to start the year...

On the offensive side, I will admit that I was wrong about Bell's value. I didn't see him as being a good value pick at all in the 2nd round. I still think that as a pure ballcarrier, you can get guys of his ability much later in the draft, but he has impressed me with his ability to impact in the passing game as both a receiver and protector. He was definitely very solid in those areas, and that elevates his value if he can be a true 3 down back. My choice in the 2nd round was Keenan Allen. Based on what Allen has done this season I'm not quite ready to concede that Bell was a better value pick, but the fact that it's a close call for me is big kudos to Bell because I am generally not a fan of drafting RBs early.

My top offensive performers were Ben, Brown, Beechum, Bell, Miller, Velasco and of course Cotch.
My offensive goats are Adams (needs to achieve next year), Sanders (very replaceable) and Gilbert (who I think is only a borderline starting RT).
To me everyone else was kind of mid-grade.

Overall I'm pretty optimistic about our offense next season.
