Im tired of all this crap people are saying 0-4 didn't beat raiders vikes blah blah, this was the biggest bullsht I have eve witnessed, we deserve to be in the playoffs everyone is saying that but the fact remains were not, its hard to belive those refs made a bad call and that's it, iif it smells like sht, looks like sht then its sht, we were 8-4 in the last 12 games and could easily be 10-2 should have beat the dolphigs and ravens, nobody scared us in the playoffs but I guess should coulda woulda,, to all the started 0-4 people don't forget the first game we lost are best linemen, middle lb,and third down rb, also didn't have bell in, or heath, and a bunch of first time linemen playing, as the year went on the line got better but more importantly BEN started to get rid of the ball quicker which Haley wanted, the line looked better and so did the running game, the d was so so but o well every team isn't perfect,, it sucks to be robbed like this

Could have been 10-2 but they weren't. Should have beaten the Dolphins and Ravens but they didn't.

Yeah, the refs screwed up big time (again... shocker!) but it is the Steelers' fault for having to reply on other teams to lose for them to get in.

I think you can say that about any team and any game or any call for that matter. One call can make the difference between winning and losing as we witnessed the debacle in San Diego.

Some calls do not make an obvious difference to the outcome of the game but this two missed calls obviously made a huge impact.

Just wait until you're watching the Bolts playing against the Bungles.

Probably will need a therapist by half time.

I'm not happy about it either. I really think we could have done some damage in the playoffs the way we were playing at the end of the season. But...

...WHEN YOU HAVE TO RELY ON ANOTHER TEAM'S SCRUBS AND A KICKER NAMED SUCK-UP 3,000 MILES AWAY TO PULL A WIN OUT OF THEIR BUTTS YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOUR OWN FREAKING SELVES!!!

I hope Tomlin and the Steelers learn a valuable lesson from this. Namely, that EVERY GAME, EVEN PRESEASON GAMES COUNT! You've got to win the games you're supposed to win. You've got to come out ready to play each and every week and not have let downs to inferior teams. People on here get ticked off when you mention Belichick and the Pats and talk about their easy schedule, etc. But the reason they are so successful is because THEY WIN THE GAMES THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO WIN! Look at the Steelers games the last 3 years. How many of those games did we look at prior the season and say that's a W that actually ended up being an L? TOO MANY! That's why the team will be enjoying the playoffs at home like the rest of us, not because some idiot kicker shanked a chip shot!!!

If we were sitting at 12-4 and needed help to get in would feel the same way?
If you lose the first game of the year you're going to realy on others losing so you can get ahead of them.

I might be alone here, but I see it as two separate things.

1- we were in a bad position because of an awful start, losing games we should have won, and struggling to find an identity all year.

2- our progress was impeded by calls in a different game that possibly could have gone the other way. And this is going to happen, because it's a league, and at the moment a fairly open league in terms of parity between teams. So it's entirely justified to be mad at the officials in that game, because you could be 12-4 and still depend on other results for how your progress is shaped (getting into the play-offs, bye weeks, opponents, etc.). Or, as Glenn says, the moment you lose one game you're dependent on other teams losing.

Both discussions are about the same result - us not getting into the play-offs - but raising one doesn't necessarily cancel the other out.

If you take care of your business during the regular season, then one blown call in a game you're not even playing in will not matter. Simple as that.

I think the entire history of the NFL will not bear this out.

I'll let you know when we are 12-4 and need help.

    ;)

As for relying on others to lose if you lose your first game, you don't have to have the best record in the league, conference or division to make the playoffs so I'm not sure why that matters.

It's all water over the dam but I have to agree with pete---, we got hosed, no matter how many games we blew and should have won. The fact is the refs made two bad calls or no calls in the SD KC game and all we get is an oh I am sorry from the NFL. It would not have been so bad if the calls were questionable but they were right out there for all to see, like the refs did not want to make the right call. How much money did that cost the Steelers, lots that is for sure and the refs who made the mistakes go right on their merry way. In most other responsible jobs where big money is in play, make a mistake and you have hell to pay with days off and loss of money but in the NFL where millions is at play, it's just oh I am sorry......We were in a winning mode and hard to beat so my thinking is we could have gone far into the playoff and maybe into the Super Bowl, it has been done before.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm VERY ticked at the refs and think they need to be disciplined in some way. Their ineptitude cost the Chiefs the game and that would have put the Steelers in the playoffs. But had the Steelers taken care of business and won the games they should have won, including losing to the Dolphins in a snowstorm, the same Dolphins team easily handled by the Bills and Jets the last two weeks, the Chiefs-Chargers game would have been irrelevant. To me, if you're 12-4 and need help, you've had one heckuva season and have won the games you're supposed to win. That's a different scenario altogether.

being 8-8 and starting 0-4 had no bearing on the fact that the officials screwed up not one but two calls in the chiefs game...that had massive effect on the playoffs

The bar this year to make the playoffs was set at 8-8 and the steelers did enough to make the playoffs ...

    Im pissed too, however...

if they did enough they would've been in. Had the refs done their job, they would've been in. Anybody can make a case either way, and argue it to a T.

bottom line is, they did not do enough. either way you pitch your ***** they're at home because they didn't win when they should have!

everyone here and the team included, would've accepted the post season gift from a chargers gaffe. Didn't happen. Should've never needed it to happen either.

all I want now is a little fair play and the league to back off of the draft pick threat. Fair is fair!

I hear what your saying, but they did do enough to get in..8-8 was good enough this year...the chiefs won that game but the refs took it away...

Win the games you are suppose to win. We didnt do that. THATS WHY WE ARE NOT IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!

No one to blame but ourselves! Accept responsibility.

But Miami, Baltimore, and San Diego all had a better case for getting in?

This is true...BUT...did San Diego deserve it? They lost to the Texans and Redskins, for crying out loud. Baltimore? bad losses to Buffalo and Cleveland. Miami? Lost to Buffalo twice and Tampa.

Bottom line is, there were plenty of helpings of mediocrity shooting for that #6 seed. The issue isn't that the Steelers got hosed by the refs; the issue is that San Diego got gifted by them. It's not just the Steelers who have a gripe; it's the Dolphins and Ravens, too.
