do we try to sign Wallace or velasco back?

I have a feeling we won't see much changed on the O-line. I think they go the cheapest route and sign Wallace. I think they sign whimper back too. they will be getting back pouncey and embernate. hubbard is still here on the PS. this is a pretty cheap group right now.

It would be a shame to see Velasco go. Then agin, Wallace hasn't looked bad at all. But you are probably right, whatever the cheapest route is is the way we will go.

I'd love to bring Velasco back. I also think Wallace played pretty well and could be a versatile backup.

Velasco was start of the team turning around. When he went down, Wallace stepped up. I know its a business but it should at least be considered to bring em back. Besides, Pouncey is never healthy.

Well, to be fair. It's hard to stay healthy when your Guard decides to miss his block by 2 feet and take out your knee.

Pouncey was super unlucky, weren't 2 out of his 3 injuries because of teammates rolling up on him / taking out his knee?

before this year pouncey only missed 3 regular season games...it wasn't his fault decastro submarined him in the first game...he is a 3 time first or second team all pro----

the reason why the line started to turn around wasn't because of velasco or wallace...though they did play pretty well it was the fact that guys around him started to play better... Beachum sured up the LT and Gilbert Played well on the right side...Decastro was basically a rookie coming into this year...he started mauling ...

Pounce is the starter next year and velasco and wallace will be camp invites fighting for a job unless both get FA offers... ideally all 3 should come back....but you know how the NFL Works

I'd like to bring both of them back. They both did their jobs admirably. In fact, I would even bring Whimper back. He did everything that was asked of him, and if we bring him back, it would allow us to not touch the OLine at all this offseason which would be nice.

My first thoughts on the OLine:

    Beachum
    Foster
    Pouncey
    DeCastro
    Gilbert
    Adams
    Whimper
    Wallace
    Velasco

That is 9. Keep a couple on the practice squad and it will be even better. Embernate will get a chance to unseat someone.

Velasco and Wallace played above the line though... if you can get good play at a cheaper price why wouldn't you want that? You can only pay so many guys big contracts...

Save some money and put it elsewhere where it is more needed...

I'd rather say we traded him and resigned Wallace and Velasco.

I believe this is one area that we should not go the cheap route. Ben has suffer enough. They played well with little but I say bring Velesco back and put him at guard. I would see what Levi Brown has left before I let him walk out the door and resign him (on the cheap) not at the salary he has now. Brown was a number one draft pick for a reason.

Beachum, Velesco, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert the starters.
Foster, Whimper, Wallace, Adams, Brown (if he's 100% healthy and takes a significant pay cut)

But if anything, this is a good group of 9 linemen with some draft picks and Enberate (which I still don't know about this guy and the fan fare) but we'll see, should be ready next year.

I hope they bring them all back. Its funny at the beginning of the year people blasting/questioning/etc why Whimper/Wallace/etc...and yet they proved everyone wrong when they were called upon. I guess the team does know better sometimes.

True but there have been a number of occassions where Pouncey was riding the pine due to injury. Decastro is account for only 1 of those times.

Pouncey and woodley need to be gone

I would keep Velasco and let him compete with Foster at LG and backup Pouncey at C. He seems to be a hard worker and decent smarts. Clearly not as athletic as Pouncey, but he definitely did his job for the Steelers before getting injured. Honestly was a little surprised that Titans cut him. I guess because he wasn't one of Munchak's guys and probably didn't think he was athletic enough for his offensive philosophy... whatever the heck that is... doesn't appear that Munchak really knows either. Anyhow, he probably thought he could cut him and nobody would pick him up and he would sign him to PS. He had to know that someone would pick up Velasco though. As for Wallace, I would only keep him if he could play some G as well. I like the guy and he seems to have a decent meanstreak (ala providing free colon cancer screening for opposing team players...). He deserves a chance to compete.

Gilberts play was way above the line in the second half of the season...people that want to pin the success of the oline on just velasco and wallace are delusional

he is aweful. foster is slow as mosses. beachum sealed up the left and velasco and Wallace sealed up the middle and DD played well to help that. that was the biggest changes in this line.

pouncey has missed 3 regular season games in his career up until this year and 1 playoff game (super bowl 45) he is a 3 time all pro (first or second ) the only place he needs to be is snapping to ben for the next 5 years

Gilbert played very well down the stretch...Velasco and wallace played decent as did beachum...In case you didn't know, the farther out from the ball the line goes the harder the position...that is why the best athletes are the tackles...and why velasco and wallace were able to fill in so well...but they are not on pounceys level

Gilbert received top grades for the line many times this season...he has played very well down the stretch---if you want i can dig up the grades to show u
