And very likely means the difference in the Steelers making and missing the playoffs.

    Suisham
    PATs. 38 for 38
    FGs 28-30

What about he failed 2 point conversion against the Ravens? I don't think it's fair to heap all of the blame on a guy that has made 97% of his kicks.

I have you know that he only did that so he could take his wife or GF to Hawaii. She told him before the Raiders game that the SB is in NJ. "Shawn-Here's your choice, Honolulu or NJ? Fur coat or Bikini? Ice cold freezing rain or 82 and sunny?"
"Yes dear I'll shank a couple"

Not making a judgment on how fair it is, but two FGs Suisham should have made with his eyes closed he shanked big time and the fact is had he made them, we're probably already in.

That stat reflects too many field goal attempts and not enough TDs.

the stats that's a real shame is this

    W 7
    L 8

with the schedule and the team we have (not great but better than a lot of other afc teams ) 8 losses are a shame

Yeah I don't get how two missed field goals on the season are "The most haunting stat ".
    The losses are though!

My point is that two 30 yard field goals in the Raiders game will likely cost us the playoffs. I'm just trying to point out that Suisham can make those in his sleep. He's made 48 yarders in the swirling wind but TWO FGS THAT AMOUNTED TO PATS WILL BE THE DIFFERENCE IN US MISSING AND MAKING THE PLAYOFFS! I realize they're not the only reason we'll miss the playoffs, but looking back a kicker that's been money all year missed two gimmes and had he made them, we'd be getting ready for the post season. Geez

Same could be said about a number of plays and games this year. So many to pick from and you pick on one of our most consistent players? Geez ,

THAT'S my point, Glenn. He's one of our most consistent players and we'll miss the playoffs because of the ONLY TWO FIELD GOALS HE'S MISSED ALL SEASON. Do you get the irony of the point I'm trying to make?

So if we miss the playoffs that's the reason?

Like the year that Gary Anderson was with the Vikings and was perfect in the regular season and then missed a 38 yarder in the NFC championship that cost them the game and a trip to the Super Bowl.

IF he had made those two chip shots we'd be 8-7 and a win against the Browns would put us in the playoffs, right? I know there are plenty of other reasons we likely won't make the playoffs, but the irony of Suisham missing two of his easiest field goals of the season being a major contributor cannot be overlooked.

Very comparable, only that Anderson's was in the playoffs and instantly eliminated the Vikes. We had no idea earlier in the season when Suisham missed those two against the Raiders how weighty they would end up being.

I get what you're saying, I just felt like you were laying all the blame on Squishy. Good enough Jack.

Not at all. Suisham has had a heckuva season overall but if we miss the playoffs, I'm sure Suishy will lay awake at night thinking about those two in Oakland.

    Merry Christmas to you.

You can look at that as well, but there is no way we should have even come close to scoring on that play anyway. That was a fluky play and the FGs in Oakland were routine chip shots for one of the best kickers in the league this year.
