A lot is going to be said here about whether the teams that the Steelers need to win next will have the motivation to do so.

Well, "motivation" is a trite phrase, because there sure were a bunch of teams who lost today who had plenty of motivation to win today against a lesser team without any...

    So here goes-

KC- don't want to go into the playoffs on a losing streak
Cincy- PLENTY. The chance to knock the Rats out of the playoffs, a chance to have an undefeated season at home, and a desire not to lose both games to the Ravens AND face playing them a 3rd time the next week.
NY Jets- A chance for a .500 season, perhaps saving the job of their coach, and a chance to knock out a hated divisional foe. I watched them play today, and although it was against the Browns, they did look very good on both sides of the ball.

So, it's possible. Go look at what happened in 1989, a season which is now taking on a chilling resemblance to this one.

Funny how the playoffs work. An 8-8 team can get in while the Cardinals could go 10-6 and probably not get in.

I'm starting to get a good feeling here myself, Jimmy. I remember that 89 season of starting out losing at home 51-0 to the Browns and then being bombed by the Bengals 41-10 in week 2 of that season. Like the 89 version our present day Steelers have their faults and are far from perfect. Having said that it is funny how history has a way of just repeating itself. This team now being more healthy has grown leaps and bounds over the last half of the year. I am proud to be a Steeler fan and love the fight and determination the guys have. Now let's take care of the Browns next week and with things going our way which I think it will, let's grab that sixth seed and make history!

Yes I think the bengals still have something to play for and will give it their all. That being said, if the powers that be alter the schedule so the bengals game starts at 4pm (after the New England game) I will be pissed....and then the conspiracy talk can begin once again....

That won't happen, there is no reason to alter it, and the won't.
