    I don't think you do that and expect the next play to get it in. You could take 2 knees and kick the FG, but you're still giving it back with time on the clock and they win with a TD. How would that have gone if they had kicked it and got the same return they did? Game would have gone to OT.

    Your right Bobby but we did give them the ball back with 1:25 left up by 7 when we could have given them the ball back with less the :30 left up by 3......Ill take my chances with the latter.

    Player of the Game! Sharmarko Thomas. Without his hustle and determination we would of lost on the kickoff return.

    Not so fast....if you're in the bottom of the 9th with a tie score and the bases loaded and one out, do you swing for the fences because it's more points or the sacrifice that wins it? By that logic, shouldn't you go for 2 every time you score a touchdown since it's 'more?'

    I'd still take the 99% chance to win by 3 every time over the 80-85% chance of winning by 7....unless, of course, I had money riding on the game...

    Apples and Oranges taste the same.
    No they do not.

    99% chance by 3??? WHAT? 80-85% by 7??? HUH??

    Ill say that 100% of the time I can make up percentages to back my argument to be correct 65% of the time.

    I'll try one more time....and I'll let YOU choose the numbers. What would you say are the odds that Suisham could make an extra point (and despite the math issues we all seem to be having -- I guess we shouldn't be so hard on Tomlin AFTER all -- they could have taken the clock down to one second and called their timeout)? Call that 'X'

    Now, what are the odds that another team can score a TD with 1:25 left and no timeouts. Call that 'Y'. If X>Y, do X.....

    It could go either way and I see the logic behind it.
    But the KO return did go to the Pittsburgh 31. Thats already in FG range. And they probably would have had 1 play to get it even closer. So, what you are advocating would have more than likely ended up in a tie and an OT game.

    All you just said was that your argument is greater then what happened.

    Still sounds like made up percentages.

    If I choose the numbers I say

    x=100
    y= any other number

    Looks like now im correct too!

    If we kicked the flied goal the Packers would have about 10 seconds on the clock. This is just bad management of the clock again by Tomlin.:facepalm:

    Because the run back put them in field goal range

    And how were we to know they would run it back into FG range? How many KO returns are run back into FG range? Not a lot. Id bet less than 5%.

    You score the TD guys. And you don't eff around in doing it.

    Green Bay had no timeouts.

    Special teams was supposed to do its job...and they didn't. If anything, I'd have been willing to kick the ball out of bounds or squibble it.

    Did they realize that the Steelers were absolutely boned on the blocked FG, or were they a bunch of homers?

    The Bears aren't taking advantage of the present the Steelers gave them.

    Yeah, but you give it back with forty less seconds on the clock and a lot less chance of them tying it up. They must know what they are doing as it worked out. I'm not bashing the coaching staff I'm just trying to figure out why they played it like they did?

    We could have given them the ball back with 45 seconds up by seven had we took a knee on second down. Now that's assuming the same result of a TD on third down.

    It's the same reason why some coaches will allow a team to score in order the get the ball back and others won't. There's no real right or wrong answer, it's just a difference in opinion. If I was GB I would have allowed us to walk into the end zone and if I was Tomlin I would have scored the TD instead of going for the FG. Other coaches may have done the opposite, but a lot would have done exactly what Tomlin did.
