Would you prefer the Steelers go 8-8 and get the 6th seed, or get a top 10 draft pick. I don't think they deserve to go to the playoffs good teams find a way to win games, and bad teams find a way to lose games which the Steelers are right now. You can't lose to Minnesota, Oakland, Tennessee and expect to make the playoffs.

Never understood the don't deserve to go to the playoffs attitude, if they beat out the rest for the 6th spot, they deserve to go to the playoffs. I pick playoffs. It's not always the best team that wins but the hottest team. Get hot, never know.

Since they won the Super Bowl as a 6th seed before, of course I want them to make the playoffs... but they won't.

I always expect them to win but at this point the playoffs are a complete pipe dream.

Also, I don't care the least bit about draft pick position as I find it completely overrated. It comes down to scouting and coaching more than anything.

Considering what San Diego is doing tonight it is even more of a pipe dream. The Chargers finish at home against Oakland and Kansas City and it is possible the KC game might mean nothing to the Chiefs.

Well heck.....as long as we're going to pipe dream of playoffs anyway, might as well hope that KC overtakes Denver on the final week of the season and claims the 1 seed. Then we could go to Cincy and KC and maybe never need to play Denver OR New England....

Actually nice to see someone shut Denver down. Just wish it hadn't been San Diego but as long as the odds already are, what's one more thing to root for??????

I'm just hoping we can make a good 'final' stand against the Bengals. One more week of pipe dreams.....

All AFC teams have been inconsistent. Pittsburgh could seriously beat all of them if they didn't beat themselves....

Without a doubt, I want the 6th seed. I'm not sure how any fan could prefer the lose out and go 5-11 over a playoff appearance.

I would love the 6th seed but realistically that isn't happening. We have blown too many games to get into the playoffs.

Since they wont be the 6 seed, then they may as well move up the draft board, if that happens I wont complain about it, I have zero confidence in this team and I expect them to lose Sunday night and again in green bay based on their putrid record.....

Well, they have to be in it to win it. So on the one hand I'd like for them to be in the playoffs.

But, seeing how this team can't play for 60 minutes on both side of the ball, it's highly unlikely that if they even get their they'll be able to string together 4 wins.

So I guess what I'm saying is I'll expect draft order but be pleasantly surprised if they make it.

we have flipped places with the bengals.. for 40 years they found a way to lose and we found a way to win... that has unfortunately flipped the last 2-3 years... we now find a way to lose the 3 point type games... and the bungals find a way to win .. which has a lot to do with coaching.. hope the bengals lose their DC and OC to head coaching jobs next season..

Sure you can. When your team CLEARLY needs draft picks to get things pointed in the right direction, I have no issue with anyone on here saying they would take the 10th pick. I have no preference at this point in the season. I would love to have an extended season and see my team playing in January again. I would also like them to right this ship and get back to Steelers football.

Like bigsteelerfaninky, I do struggle to understand it. Each to their own opinion, and all, but I think it's short-sighted and reactionary, and not how you instil a re-energised attitude and winning mentality into a team flirting with mediocrity.

Of course I'd prefer them to get the 6th seed. I'll never root for a draft pick over a possibility, no matter how slight, of getting to the big game.

Obviously you got to be in it to win it but does anyone realistically think we have a shot if we do get in. After watching this team stumble and fumble away game after game this year I don't see how you can be optimistic of our chances. I also don't subscribe to the whole finish strong for carryover to next year.

Every season in the NFL is entirely new and different with lots of factors determining your success, especially injuries. Remember this is the same group of guys who said they were "pissed" off and highly motivated after not making the playoffs last year. Well guess what we're on the same road again. They "unleashed hell" alright,on us fans.

Oh really tell that to the Colts who twice in the last 15 years got the #1 pick and drafted Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck. The only way this team will get better is to draft young talent they will never be big spenders in free agency. Look at San Francisco and Seattle they both stunk for many years and drafted good young talent and now they're two of the better teams. Also the Steelers stunk in 2003 and in 2004 drafted Big Ben at #11 so draft position does matter.

I'm not sure I follow? You can find successes in any round of the draft. I agree with 86WardsWay - scouting and coaching comes into play far more than draft position. Look at someone like Jim Plunkett's career.

That's not to say draft position doesn't matter at all; just that, all other factors considered, it's not worth sacrificing the dignity of the team to move up 5 places or whatever.
