I'm a defensive player who dominated at my position playing in the ultra-competitive SEC. I had 26.5 sacks and 50.5 tackles for loss in essentially two full seasons, ranking very high on my team's all-time list. I was first team all SEC my junior and senior seasons and a first team All-American my senior year. I was a dominant force on defense and was selected in the top 20 in the NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers after falling further than projected. I had rookie struggles and found the NFL game to be a little more challenging than the college game. I didn't do much of anything my rookie year in the league and looked to be too weak to seriously challenge a bigger and stronger LT. I guess you could call my first year in the league a disappointment overall.

Not only did your clues not help (I just don't follow college that closely) but I was expecting a more recent selection. Good trivia question.

The clues are actually designed to throw you off a bit. To get you thinking in a different direction. :hmmm:

Ah, good guess. You'll have to click on the link to find out.

He's trying to make everyone think Jarvis Jones. It's no secret that Jack thinks he's a bust. A Boy among men.

I'm no scout, but am a Georgia fan and JJ never really impressed me. Many of his sacks we chasing down the QB type variety. Thought Ogletree was much better and wanted him, aside from his off field issues.

I have never said JJ is a bust. It's far too early to say that. I will say that, by anybody's standard, Jones' rookie year has been a disappointment. For those of us that remember the Huey Richardson debacle, you can't help but notice some similarities. Especially the way they dominated at the college level. The book is yet to be written on Jones, but he hasn't lived up to his billing so far. And it's not that he's struggled necessarily. As a rookie, you're going to have struggles. You're going to blow some assignments and get burned a few times. It's the way he's struggled. He gets manhandled week after week. I would have thought he would have flashed his athleticism more at this point and won some one on one battles resulting in a few sacks. He's had the opportunity with all the snaps he's gotten. I just hope his second year is better or the B word will start flying around.

But Bell had loads of success his rookie season. It was after that that he struggled, mostly due to injury.

It is none other than the largest first round bust for the Steelers (imho,) ...... Huey Richardson of Florida.

I actually new this one because I investigated him when there was a biggest draft bust discussion a year ago. I never got to post it then because I was on vacation and my computer died, so I finally got to use that info!

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! :lolol:

Some more Huey trivia. Did you know he was in one of the twin towers of the WTC the morning of 9-11? He was supposed to be meeting on one of the upper floors and got delayed while waiting for the elevator. Pretty interesting.

Could you imagine? If that happened wouldn't you get up every day like "Holy .... I better do something good today."

To add a couple of things, but not go to far off course-
My brother worked in the WTC at the time of 9/11. However, since his boss was out of town, having flown out the day before, he knew he did not have to go into work early and slept in. True story.

Richardson, I believe, has been a stock broker since he left football.

Still too early on Jarvis. I always liked Kendrell Bell, and believe it was injuries in 2002, compounded by trying to play hurt, that spoiled what would have been a fine career. He was great as a rookie.

So does your brother wake up every day and say "Holy .... I need to sleep in today!"?

I think Jarvis will be good. He showed flashes. He has the athleticism and instincts. Just needs to get stronger in the offseason.

No, he doesn't. He continues to play down the whole thing, saying that he never went into work that early anyway, and that everyone in his work who was there did survive because they were on a low floor. That's his way of dealing with it.

Maybe Jarvis is, as some have suggested, better off playing inside. He looks no worse than Polamalu did his rookie year, not to say much.

    Another bit of extra trivia:

Richardson was Chuck Noll's last first round draft pick. His first? Joe Greene.

Two defensive linemen at opposite ends of the spectrum, in terms of history and impact on the franchise.

I grew up in Southern California. On labor Day weekend, 1986, some friends and I headed over to local school yard to play some touch football. We often did this on Sunday mornings during football season. That Sunday was the first game we'd set up that fall. But few guys showed up. So those of us who were there threw the ball around a little and then left. About 40 minutes later, this happened:

    Touch? Wussies! ;)

Just messing with ya. That is unbelievable. After reading about it, I do vaguely remember this happening. Wow! You and your friends could have been some of the injured on the ground had you stuck around a little longer.
