Steelers are three times more likely to win the Superbowl than are the Ratbirds

I like our chances better than any other team. I believe the Steelers take the next four should they happen to beat Miami. However, this Tomlin sh!t is being talked about so damn much I'm scared of the team losing focus....

Actually I am a math teacher and its really not that hard...it gives a certain % chance that each team has of making a certain seed.

I'm not saying its going to happen, but the steelers aren't really in that bad of shape currently

I think the biggest thing standing in the Steelers way of making the playoffs is the Steelers themselves. IMO O line injuries are going to be too much to overcome. IMO had Health been able to score earlier on the TD pass at the end of the Ravens game, I'd like their chances a lot more as they would not have lost Velasco and possibly Bell. And Im not sure of the sequence, but didn't Beachum get hurt too after the Miller near TD catch?

Im hoping Im wrong, but this team is just too decimated along the O line.

I'm glad I laid the money with Vegas on the Steelers winning the Superbowl and not with you. I got 35 to 1 early in the season and 60 to 1 a couple of weeks ago. This is not the type of bet I would normally make but I've been playing with house money for a little while now, so why not.
Low percentage chance of winning but with $200 at 35 to 1 and $100 at 60 to 1, I don't mind investing 300 dollars of the houses money try to win 13,000. Do I expect to win - no. But I do like the risk/reward ratio.
I really would enjoy the Steelers winning it all. Not so much for the money, but to put number seven in the SB trophy case. That may sound strange, but I'm 70 now and I have made and spend a good bit of money over those years, because money comes and goes, but no one can take another SB win away from our team if we can win number seven. Stranger things have happened.

The last time I bet on the Steelers Bubby Brister fumbled the snap. Cost me a $100. While I have bet on other teams, sports, casinos and various other things in life I just won't bet on the Steelers ever again. Somebody wanted to bet me a pepsi once and I wouldn't even take the bet out of fear for jinxing the team.

Odds are this team won't make the playoffs, they are really not in the same league this year as some of these other teams right now. But hey, at least the odds say they have a chance. With a chance, anything is possible.

Makenflplayoffs.com has the Steelers chances at 12.6%. Their methodology is closer to my calculations. But they assume each game is a 50/50 proposition, they don't take team record and home/away into account. So there estimate is a conservative #. On their site you get an estimate of the Steelers PO chances at 9-7, 8-8, 7-9. Yes, there are scenarios were the 7-9 Steelers make the playoffs. They have a >90% shot if they finish 9-7.

Football Outsiders uses their rating methodology to predict future results, and take team strength and home/away to determine their playoff odds. Their 30%+ assessment may well be generous. They have the Steelers PO chances as greater than Balt, despite the fact that the Ravens are one game ahead. This don't seem right to me.

Anyway, take the average and you get a 20% chance of the Steelers making the playoffs. Which also means an 80% chance of not making the playoffs.

A loss Sunday probably drops the chances on both sites to single digits.

The playoff odds are the same as the odds would be for us signing two guys off the street, and starting them in an NFL this weekend, oh wait.......
