Who got *****ed at for talking about the playoffs?

You're right though, all that's being talked about right now is Mike Tomlin, both on here and in the media. It's a huge distraction and if we lose this week I think at least part of the reason has to be because of this nonsense. Miami is a team we should beat. Losing to them is inexcusable.

You really want to go to the playoffs with this team? I understand that anything can happen but to go 9-7 make the playoffs and lose the first round and while doing all this move down the draft board 10-12 slots. Every week I sit and watch and root even pick them in the pool but I really don't get mad anymore to see them lose. Now last week I was upset but still I see it as a positive. We don't have a chance in hell to raise the 7th Lombardi and that's why you play the game. Lets work for the rest of the season to improve for next year and get as healthy as possible. As for this week yea we should win but if we lose the only reason Id be a little upset is because Mikey is on the other team no other reason. I would love to be in the top 10 of the draft. Well I think that everyone talking about Mike Tomlin is deserved he's a HC in the NFL and for one of the most recognizable franchises in the history of the game and he pulled a bush league stunt that a poor loser pop warner coach would attempt. I think its garbage and the FO really should discipline him as well. The laughing and smirking on the sideline was the worst just acting like "I showed them, look at me I'm a good coach". I wish he put in the time he took to think up that plan into actually game planing maybe this team would not come out unprepared against weaker competition.

Absolutely I do. That's one more week I get to watch my favorite team. What are they supposed to do just fold their tents and go home? You play to win period. I'll never ever understand the mentality of some of you guys where you're more concerned about next year's draft position than winning the football game regardless of the teams record. To me a playoff appearance would demonstrate they made significance progress this year given how bad they started the year. I don't seem them having any shot at winning it all either but I sure as hell don't want them throwing in the towel just on the chance that higher UNPROVEN draft picks next year MIGHT make them a better team. Having higher draft picks doesn't guarantee anything. Just ask the Browns.

Some fans (and Front Offices) focus on the long term prospects of the franchise and building a stronger team for years to come, rather than short term gratification and the ills that go along with that approach.

I understand your point but this team has holes everywhere and to make the playoffs and go on the road and quite possibly be embarrassed Ill have my favorite team take that week off. We started the year with some offensive line men that would have been hard pressed to start at Bama let alone the NFL. Now were getting ready to put guys on the team that have been watching TV for 13 weeks. (I know they are practice squad guys, but it sounds better my way) I just hope Ben and Bell don't get hurt seriously these last 4 weeks. Like I said I root each and every week if they make the playoffs its just another game to watch and actually get pissed when they lose because they do not have the team to compete. I would not trade a wild card game for 10 draft positions not were we are as a franchise at this moment. If were were on the verge and could make some noise this year I totally agree with you but we are a few positions away from that and higher picks mean a better chance.

Not sure I'd say "biggest game of the season", one could argue Baltimore last week or Cincy next week, or really any game between 1 and 16. But this could be our final elimination game. Win to keep a little breathe of hope, lose to start planning for next year.

I am not a tear down and rebuild just needs tweaked some. I agree with the franchise qb that's why I think were are just a few positions away.

I'm torn on what to do with Ben. He'll be 34 at the start of his new contract, that's a little bit younger than what the 9ers, GB and Colts did when finding their replacement for Montana, Favre and Manning, but similar.

If the Steelers end up 5-11, or 6-10, then I say let's get our next QB now and have him sit on the bench for Ben's final 2 seasons. If we end up making the playoffs, I don't think we have a choice but to build around Ben, re-sign him and hope he plays effectively until 39.

I think the latter is the more likely scenario (not necessarily the playoffs part), but may not end up being the best long term.

I do understand what you're saying. If we finish 9-7, miss the playoffs AND miss out on the top LT or CB I will be angry. I want to see trophy #7 before I pass away. I also don't want years of mediocre play while we rebuild.

No-Way should this team have started 0-4...2-6. Losing to the titans, bengals, blown out by the bears and loosing to the vikes really killed my enthusiasm for the hunt for #7. The loss, blowout by the patsies, was bad for me. I still haven't gotten over that one.

This team is just a couple players short of being SB contenders and we have a franchise QB, for a couple more years.

I also get what 72 is saying. I can't get myself to pull against my team and hope they loose for draft status. No pick is guaranteed and busts occur every year just like draft steals.

This has not been a good year for me and the Tomlin incident has actually taken my focus off my pain if but for a couple days.

I don't pull for them to lose. I just said that I don't get as angry anymore, I am always pulling for them but every loss moves us up the board that's all. I am not one for tanking to get better but this team has no need to tank. With the poor play, poor coaching they do a fine job of losing while trying to win. That's why I still pull for them to steal a quote from the famous Forest Gump " the Steelers are like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get"

Well, I mean you can only say so much about a game and the Tomlin thing is a distraction now and could affect the team in April.

Having said that, this is a huge game as far as playoff contention is concerned. I feel pretty good about our team right now compared to, say, a month ago. We lost to the Ravens, but considering we lost several more starters, I thought losing by two wasnt a huge negative.

Couldn't of set it better myself. Totally agree.

I enjoy watching my team each and every week. I still have old games that I watch for those times during the off-season. I would be disappointed if they tanked the season for a high draft pick.

I don't know. Due to the way this season has unfolded thus far I think the last game against Baltimore was the biggest game.

If they won against the Rats they would basically be in control and let the other teams chips fall where they may. Now it's a must win and help, help, help, help, help. And all the help in the world still may not be enough.

100% agree. You try to win because you are competitive by nature and you fight until the last whistle no matter what the surrounding circumstances are. I root for a team who I want to fight tooth and nail in every game, not to see them give up for a little better pick next year.

Now Shaner you know that there's no such thing as a team we "should" beat. LOL. I really feel more comfortable playing teams we SHOULDN'T beat because we seem to get up for those games more.

I guess I would say I "felt" pretty good about our team because the line seemed to be protecting Ben and Bell was getting some yards BUT we can't forget that we came out terribly flat in that game if we had played even THREE quarters we could have won it easily. That's what's lame about losing to the stupid rats when we beat ourselves and they get the credit. Losing the starters was pretty much the nail in my coffin of hope. If there is such a thing as a coffin of hope. LOL.

Landry Jones? Is he not there anymore? Does he suck? Could he be the replacement? I don't live in Pitt, so I don't hear anything about him.

They did, on a playoff thread.

Damn right, I want to go to the playoffs every year. We need a win to beat Dallas in all-time playoff wins. Each have 33, so I'm rooting for the Eagles to win the East and keep the cowgirls out of the playoffs.

As of now, it is the biggest game of the season. If we lose, we likely don't make the playoffs. But since we still have a chance, the same could not be said of last week's game. Whereas if we win, then the game against Cincy will then be the biggest game of the season.

You people all joke about teams we should beat, here in a nut shell is why I do not like
Mike Tomlin. How many times thru out the years has his coached team lost to an inferior opponent? And then you look at NE Patriots always in the playoff's giving
there fans something to cheer for. We are about to miss out on the playoffs for a second straight year because we couldn't beat the Raiders or the Vikes? With journeyman QB's. C'MON people why so much leash for this guy? How has he impacted the Steelers since he has been here. Strategist, time mgmt,
    innovation, he is
a bull ****ter and classless as you all know by the latest
    incident. We can do better.

Last weeks game was a MUST win! Now every game is the biggest game. Even if they run the table, their is no guarantee they make the post season. And anyone who states that they have a chance at 8-8 is crazy. Then it will be 7-9

Losing to the purple crows I believe was the dagger. I hope not, but I don't have that rah rah feeling right now.
