The O Line reminds me of one time on the island of Diego Garcia. Not a lot to do there unles someone tries to mess with America's pre position ships. All loaded for Combat. Sports is a big deal there. I was pitching in a softball game and they were hitting me all over the place. 7th ining I walked out there with an M16 Rifle and an M203 Grenade launcher attached.
Didn't help, they kicked our butt anyhow. I felt like we needed rifels Thursday night

After we let Keisel, Taylor, Clark and the 40 tEs we have on the roster and Woodley, Troy take a pay cut we should have enough. Plus they should be on the cheap

Velasco played very well for us. This sucks.

Now, I'm not the type - usually - to advocate cheap shots. But Ngata has it coming and deserves a good dive at the knees next year, or 2, or 3, or however many it takes to put him out for the year.

I'm not kidding. Total bush league move on his part. You won't convince me it wasn't intentional.

Velesco will be cheaper now coming off a serious injury like that. Colbert says, if we want someone enough, there is always a way to make it happen.

I say resign Velasco. We got Pouncey one more year ( I think) so just put him at guard and let it play out? That is of course he's considered tradable at this point, as I believe we won't have the cash on hand that he'll demand, then we should shop him around perhaps. Embernate should be ready to go and seems to have good uptick, brown's situation should be, if we can get him at the vet minimum then we should. Adams will continue to play in the jumbo at T.E. Unless he figures things out and lives up to his positional demands. Beaucham seems serviceable at L.T. Spot and Gilbert might eventually grasp the R.T. Notion.

I think we should go all out D with the upper tier picks in this draft, and try to find some serviceable plugins with upside for the O line. A speedy tight end wouldn't hurt, but seems a reach in the early going. A lot of holes on D need to be filled... We got the personnel on O minus the injuries and 1st half lack of giddy up.

This! This team needs to cut salary. Always over so up against the cap. Velasco was a breath of fresh air and it seemed that the line was coming together. Pouncey is off injured.

i'm not sure why long is on the PS for a second year if they won't bring him up when we get to this point. if gilbert can't jump over to LT in a pinch then get rid of him. alot of guys can play RT only.

i'm tired of hoping and praying these guys can get good enough in a couple of years. gilbert and pouncey will save us near 5.5 mil. next year. are they really can't live without players? levi brown? adams? foster? please. they would give us another 2 mil. plus. we have gone far too long with an O-line on the cheap. we have no idea how velasco and pouncey will come back from major injuries.

i'd be all over kevin boothe during the offseason. i wanted him brought in last year, but they let the giants sign him back for next to nothing. he's a FA again at the end of this season. we also can't wish and hope enbrenate will be the guy. we don't know that and better have a plan, unlike last year.

your either going to build a team around this franchise qb or not, quit trying to piecemeal one. admit your 2nd round tackles are a flop and get some good ones. get some interior players that are up to the task. it makes the other good players on offense better. hit the defensive high depth positions in this draft and go from there. we have guys in place on defense to build around. we need to fix this O-line which fixes the offense. add to the defense and next year take a top couple of defenders to add to what is good.

The Steelers have bigger needs than drafting a TE in the first round. Sefarian Jenkins has been a disappointment this season and I think he was also suspended not interested in him.

    exactly it can be done...

Pounce isnt going anywhere ..a center his caliber at his age is a complete asset..

velasco needs to be resigned as well...

I really really really liked the passion I saw from Velasco this season. He jumped right in to a difficult situation when he arrived quickly picked up the offense and did the line adjustments. I even remember reading that he helped the other linemen with zone-blocking. He is the type of player that I think the Steelers NEED to have on the team, and I wish they had more at other positions.

Velasco also played at a very high level for us this year. I even saw him doing a lot of pulling and lead blocking for Bell, something that everyone thinks only Pouncey was able to do.

I think Velasco should be the top priority to resign, and I expect the team to sign him. I would also keep him at center, as I feel he has done as much in his 12 games in terms of being a leader and asset to the team, as Pouncey has done his whole career.

And not to knock on Pouncey, as I think he is a great young player that is very athletic and has played well, but what makes him this god to some of you? I have watched the same games you all have, and I remember him having trouble with bigger nose tackles and players more athletic than him. I'm not sure he is this godly linemen that is so essential to the line. I would move him to guard next season or try to move him for some picks.

Jeff Hartings wasnt all that athletic, but he, in my opinion, was an amazing center. Just because they are athletic doesn't automatically mean they are better.

I'm with you about Gilbert. I think he has an incredibly low ceiling at best and Adams can take a hike.

I thought the line was actually coming together, then injury injury injury, oh crap suck ass again. I think that has been a very big part of the problem, there is never any consistency on the line and when they were finally able to play together for a little bit, good things were happening.

Pouncey is not going anywhere. Not sure why people think he sucks, or cut him due to his injury? Mark this down- Pouncey playing next year at C, and Velasco at a guard spot along with DD is a great interior Oline. The FO will find the money, plus no team will sign Velasco with his injury well into camp. That Achilles injury on a big man is 8 months rehab for sure. He may never come back, and he may not want to play G, so time will tell, but Pouncey ain't going anywhere next year

i disagree , velasco have to stay at center because is better than pouncey and probably cost less , if pouncey want to stay he will move at guard or will be trade since he schedule to earn 4,5 milion

I find it tough to believe that Pouncey wouldn't get his C position back next year. Personally, I would be intrigued to see Velasco at C and Pouncey at LG, I just find it tough to believe this will happen though. Who knows, maybe Pouncey will want to go to LG to avoid being next to DeCastro. :lolol:

i'm sure the front office doesn't want more kemoeatu, colon, gilbert, adams debacles. pouncey is under contract for one more. he and velasco are both coming off of bad injuries for interior linemen. pouncey a few years in a row now. remember two years of ankle trouble and finally surgery on them. now knee surgery and more time missed. foster is entirely to fat to stay at LG. we have embernate, but he's green and also coming off of knee surgery. nothings cut and dry on the interior, except DD right now.

i'd have to say adams stays and plays RT. he's cheap right now. 3rd LT also if they draft a LT. beachum the 1st backup at LT/LG/C/RG/RT and possibly start at LG or LT. gilbert is a RT only and thats up for dispute. 3 guys right now we don't know about and won't know about by draft time. only one is signed for one year. is a first rounder. is a pretty nice chunk of change too. then gilbert as a 2nd rounder with one more year on his contract. he would save us about 800,000 towards the cap, with adams sitting there with more years, also a 2nd rounder and some ability on the left side too. plus cheaper right now. i'm sure they are out to save where they can for next year, and who has the most bang for the buck.
