I know most here like Bell but I think this guy will be non-effective against the Rats. The guy is not explosive at all and for this game, in Baltiwhore, he needs to be better than what he has been so far. Rice is my biggest concern. It seems likes he runs all over the Steelers when we play the Rats in their stadium. For the Steelers to win this game, Bell will need a big game and we really need to contain Rice.

Ray Rice is extremely banged up and he's not the threat we are used to him being. Also they've not been able to establish much of a running game either.

That may be true Blount but when these two meet.....everyone gets up for this game. If Ben does not get sacked and that's a "BIGGGGGG IF", and if we don't give up turnovers, we may win this game.

I think that Bell's biggest game was against the Ravens. Not that it's an indication of how he'll do in this game.

I'm more worried about Flacco going deep on us than Rice, to be honest.

The only thing that really scares me, and that I think could be the difference in the game is the Ravens pass rush. They lead the league in sacks. The OL has played well lately though, so we'll see.

That's my concern as well numbah .. You can expect DL to help Ike out. If they help Ike the long ball will be squashed.

Then again Ike has a good game every other game so he is due to have a monster game against the Rats

My main concern? PI called against us, but never for us.

Second main concern? That people seem to be down on the abilities of a rookie RB who has far outshined any of the other 16 we've been through this year.

My concern being it is a short week. Another is of course Rice and Flacco. More so with Flacco because we have been giving up an abundance of passing yards these last few weeks to receivers. Calvin JOhnson and Josh Gordon. Now we have Jacoby JOnes and Torrey Smith.

Yeah, not sure what the OP is talking about here, Bell had 80 yards rushing against a very good Cleveland run D and almost 100 all purpose yards. The only thing different I'd like to see against the Ravens is a TD or two.

I think the reason people don't get really excited for Bell is because he doesn't get his yards in spectacular fashion. He just quietly gets them a little at a time it seems like. He's had some 10 yard runs but they've not really been explosive runs that you would consider a "highlight" ya know? I think that's the reason he gets a little overlooked.

I think he is more explosive than we give him credit for. Earlier in the season we were singing his praises because of his "patience" in waiting for the hole to develop. Now that "patience" looks like hesitation and when a RB hesitates, he's lost. I'd like to see him act a little more decisively when hitting the hole and get upfield a little quicker. We don't need another behind the line dancer. Having said that, I think Bell has the potential to be a special RB.

Oh, for those wondering, Eddie Lacy rushed for over 100 yards again Sunday.

I don't think there are any concerns from either team, heck we play them twice every year. They know what we are going to do and we know what they are going to do. It all comes down to who wants it more

Bell: 143 att: 455 yrds rushing, 256 yrds rec, 711 all purpose yards, 4 TD's

Lacy: 197 att: 806 yrds rushing, 158 yrds rec, 964 all purpose yards, 6 TD's

Not much of a difference when you take into consideration that Bell missed the first 3 games of the season and has 54 less touches. But if people want to focus on a back we passed on, they should be looking at Giovani Bernard, he's impressed me when I have watched him. 105 att: 464 yards, 345 yrds rec, 809 all purpose yards, 4 TD's. He has nearly a 100 less touches then Lacy and 38 less touches then Bell and talk about a threat to catch the ball, that's a tough guy to defend.

I'll still take Bell though, he's also a dual threat and has to run behind our line.

bell may not click off those fancy big runs like some others this year but he makes timely runs for us and gets first downs. they really have to account for him defensively slick.

I like the way we are using him like they do rice , in the passing game. getting him covered by a LB is what we are after. he creates headaches that way. we need to quit trying to make dwyer a receiver. that's his downfall.

beating the rats will require bell to command some help to their lb's to cover him , and that allows us to sneak heath out into some patterns. the coverage on those two is critical to us winning. ben has to find the lighter covered of these two on any given play. that's usually safety help and then we know what happens when they creep up.

as a matter of fact, this is what the rats try to do to us too with rice. our guy is healthier this year. we took rice out of it the first go round, they will have to do the same this time. clark will have to stay disciplined and keep his deep coverage and allow troy to do troy stuff near the line. or Timmons. the other will have to keep tabs on their TE's.

GB is really good. My boy Myron is destroying all the fantasy noobs around here and GB is a major contributor to that. Bell will probably wind up being better in the long run though. I mean if we are looking in retrospect why not go back and lament the fact that we didn't get Marshawn Lynch when he was a free agent?

Actually, I have Lacy in the TSF Fantasy League...on the bench behind Lynch. ;)
Oh, and Myron is in third behind myself and blackandgoldblitz. I never partake in fantasy football thread hijacking, but I felt a fact check was in order. :-D

Yeah, he's going to be my number one concern the next time we go against them, he made us pay the last game. Not that I am really holding out hope for taking the division, just don't see Cincy losing enough but they can definitely hurt our wc chances.

I would say this steeler team is better than the one that beat the rats the last time, I cant say the rats have improved from that last game, they struggled to score 19 points against a jets team Sunday that was basicly playing without a quarterback: Being a short week applies to both teams so neither team has an advantage there, besides, we know their tendencies so well, we could play them without a game plan. I'm more confident in playing them this time, than I was the last time........
