Not to rain on the parade, but the Steelers need to be extra careful this week after a big win at home against the Lions. They are playing a heated divisional rival that is much improved over last year and we DO NOT need to come out flat and uninspired like we've had a propensity to do at pivotal points the last couple of seasons. I hope the team has learned from those games and is READY TO PLAY FOOTBALL when they hit the field on Sunday.

We're all as excited as we've been all season because we feel the Steelers may have turned the corner somewhat, but I hope the team realizes that they have NO ROOM FOR ERROR the rest of the way out!

Can't take the Browns lightly. They have an outstanding defense. To me Joe Haden is one of the Top 3 Corners in the league. TJ Ward, is a master blaster, he hits with authority, I think they have an outstanding Rookie Linebacker in Mingo, and we all know what Paul Kruger can do.
That being said of the offensive side of the ball, they have Jordan Cameron who is a great Tight End and Josh Gordon, who has speed and some skill.
Outside of that, they don't have much that really scares you.
At least Josh Cribbs is gone, I was tired of seeing him get special teams touch downs against us.
Expect an A game from the Browns, they know the Steelers have owned them much of the last 10 plus years. You know Jimmy Haslem is going to want to win this one big time.

No because a lost finishes off the season. Right now we are barely keeping the playoff ship afloat. They can't afford to take anyone lightly. Personally I like the division game right after the Detroit game for this reason.

Don't you all know by now that the Steelers is the team to beat?

No let down for the next 6 games. This team has it together right now. They are hotter than pu$$y. Call us Cinderella because I smell Super Bowl!!

This is an important game. Outside of the fact that we cannot loose the rest of season. I was impressed by how the team responded the second half last week, it could have just as easily fell apart and the season would have been lost. Tomlin and his staff must have these guys ready to make a statement like they did in the second half against the Lion. If he does do that than I believe a lot of us will feel better about him as a coach and leader.

If there is a let down, it will be because of the thing that has been dogging them all year, inconsistency. I don't think it would have anything to do with not realizing the importance of the game.

    Question ...
Wouldn't a letdown against the Browns, as well as the results from the past two weeks, tend to point to the problems being more coaching vs actual player skill related??

I think so, scruff. The players have to be ready to play but the last couple of seasons we've had several games where we've just looked like we haven't practiced or game-planned all week. Much of that is on the coaching.

The Steelers have a dismal road record, at 1-4, they do under perform against teams they are supposed to beat, and the Browns will be motivated playing a home game; We lost to them at Cleveland last year, that said, they better not overlook them this year because every game down the stretch is win or start setting up the draft board....

But you don't really think they aren't practicing or game planning do you?

It's execution. If you take them at their word this past week, they didn't make adjustments during the Detroit game, just started handling their assignments better. That makes more sense to me then thinking the coaching staff is watching reruns of Tom and Jerry all week :smiley1:

Hopefully it is as clear to them as it is to us that we are not in the position to overlook anyone.

I get the feeling it's Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes. :lolol:

Of course I think they're game planning but when I see the team come out and play flat and uninspired football, I always hear Tomlin's words ringing in my ear "I'm a fundamentalist as opposed to scheme." It just makes me think that Tomlin, being the atritionist he is, has practiced blocking and tackling all week but they haven't developed a scheme specifically designed to attack THAT particular opponent for THAT particular week. Just my impression.

We have already lost to the Raiders and Vikings. Guarded optimism is the best way to go for now.

I loved it when the players and coaches said that Sunday not realizing that they did in fact make adjustments. No they didn't do things differently but focusing on their assignments and handling them better is an adjustment. I was cracking up reading that stuff.

I just hope that ST prepares for some trick plays. The few games I have seen of the Browns this year they have gambled with some trickery. Against MN they direct snapped to the upback on a fourth down punt and then on a field goal try the had a tightend line up near the sideline and faked the kick and threw to a wide open man that the Vikings didn't cover

I have no idea what to expect from our team this week - or any other week for that matter. They are so wildly inconsistent from game to game.

It's odd to even THINK about being in a position to 'overlook' a team that is favored to beat you, but I know what you mean. A couple of weeks ago you might have argued the Browns might be looking past the Steelers this week....(but, of course, they won't be...) No chance of us looking past ANYONE....
