McLendon isn't the problem. When you watch the tape you see that he's a good NT. I understand that it's an easy assumption to make in a 3-4, but poor linebacker play is the number one reason we've struggled against the run.

NT just isn't really a position of need, and I would be pretty shocked if we took one in early rounds. Anyway, back to Evans. :smiley1:

I never said he was a bad player, I just think an upgrade would be beneficial (I'm too used to Big Snack!). Its easier to block the backers if the NT can't take up 2 guys. But yes, sorry to get off topic. I'm still a young 'un so the ADD kicks in at times haha I'll make sure I refill my Ritalin

This defense needs more work than the Off IMO.

CJ Mosely and Loucheiz Purifoy are my top two picks in 2014.

Would be two really nice pick ups. Outside of OL and TE (maybe WR), I bet the defense gets the majority of the attention in the draft.

You hit the nail on the head.

You need a big boy in the middle for this scheme to work. I love McClendon, but he's not a NT (much like Kimo wasn't, the year he started there before Big Snack). If we don't re-sign Ziggy, then I think moving McClendon over would be a good move if we did land Nix.

McClendon and Heyward on the outside would be two serious motors on each end.

i don't think mclendon is a big problem but of course if we put nix in the middle with heiward and mclendon at end , is a pretty stout dline , if we land a good left tackle we should solve the oline problem too . a good team start from the trenches

I never said you did. :smiley1: I agree with the premise though, however just don't think NT is a position of need, the team doesn't either if recent reports are true.

Mosely would be sweet. What do you think about Stanley Jean-Baptiste as a later round prospect? Not exactly a prototypical Steelers back, but...

I like him a lot....not the prospect that I thought Richard Sherman was coming out....but could still be growing into the position.

yea, I hope it's nothing like what kendrell bell went through. exum is out too for VT. I'd love to land them both, if healthy. lot's of good ones near the top this year on both sides of the ball. I'd sure like to trade back if at all possible.
