Thanks for all you do to protect our freedoms from the fascists, communists, terrorists and jihadists who would like nothing better than to take it from us! WE APPRECIATE YOUR SACRIFICE!

Yeah man they are the best of the best. Every year on the Sunday night before Vets day we have a special service at church for the vets and we have some ww2 guys with us. One of my very best friends was in WW2 and he's the second oldest vet left in our county and there are only 2. I'm preaching brothers with both of them. One year after the service I was talking to a deacon at church and he was in Nam and I told him that I really appreciated his service but I thought the WW2 were truly the greatest and he said, and I mean QUICKLY, "ABSOLUTELY!" A few weeks ago one of my buddies was on vacation in the gulf and he's a WW2 buff and he went on a huge ship from the war and he met a vet that has a book out about his battles and when my he got back to work he was like "dude I met the most awesome guy EVER!" There's just something about Normandy and Bastogne and Iwo Jima and the Battle of the Bulge that just have a sorta "mystique" or something ya know?

Thanks for saying that, BFT. My dad, who passed away in 2010, was a WWII Navy Vet. I was always very proud of him. My brother served in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict but never saw any action in Nam. I have the utmost respect for the both the Greatest Generation and the Vietnam vets who had to endure a lot of unnecessary garbage when they came back to the States. I would go into a diatribe about our now Secretary of State but I don't think I need to go there on this board. Anyway, my heartfelt appreciation goes out to all of our military vetarans!!!

Yeah I really admire the Nam vets too because they were drafted and had to go over there in what was basically a no win situation. Then to have to come home and be treated like they were is pretty dang irritating really. My wife's uncle is one of the funniest and easy going people I know and one Sunday he was standing at the other end of a pew and I walked over there to tell him something and he kinda had his back turned a little and I put my hand on his shoulder and said "hey I just wanted to..." and before I could even get out what I was gonna say his eyes got huge and he literally got this fearful look on his face and I said "WHAT?" and he sorta laughed a little and said "I've been shot at!" But that let me see that those guys still maybe carry around a certain degree of fear and being in war must totally almost recondition your mind forever or something.

I served two tours in Vietnam many years ago, it's remarkable how this country didn't honor the veterans then, but do so now, to all of my fellow vets, thanks for your sacrifice....And to all those who didn't serve, but honor us on veterans day, THANK YOU for remembering us...
