Are you asserting that a stud LT would not make the offense better?

And there is that great hyperbowl so many like to use to give their argument more merit then it actually has. Havent seen anyone claiming the offense would be a finely tuned machine with the addition of a LT, just that it is a glaring weakness that needs to be fix.

So misleading. Seneca Wallace was running for his life the whole game? he got hurt on the opening drive after going 5-5 and wasn't sacked. The third string QB came in and just about threw for 300 yds and was sacked only once. But youre right GB has a terrible line. IF you are referring to the game against the bears Rogers was sacked 3 times on the opening series and Wallace only twice in triple minutes played. Lacy Rushed for 150 yards with Wallace in at qb go figure your logic.

Also, you really don't believe that the current Steeler OL are loaded with pro bowlers if Brady were our qb.:lolol: that's the stupidest comment I have ever read, I hope its was sarcasm and I just missed something

yeah you said Lacy struggled. 150 yds on 20 carries is struggling AND Wallace only got sacked twice. That`s a sign of a good line to me.

I said Lacy struggled this week against a weak defence and Wallace was running for his life last week. I don't care about sacks, I watched that game, the guy had absolutely no time to do anything.

I thought Lacy only had 73 yards on 24 carries?

Lacy Has rushed for basically 220 plus yards since the Rogers injury and the OL has given up 3 sacks and thrown for 400 plus yards in two games but you still think the line has played crap since the injury to Rogers.

Yep. I stand corrected. Gradkowski was claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Rams in June 2008 but he was waived before the season.

I agree 100%. Brees is tougher than Peyton but neither of them would be able to stand the beating they would get behind this line.

Of course, they will say we won because of defense, you know because those 90's teams which had even better defenses won so many SB's, oh wait

Yeah I think some people exist in a parallel dimension where athletes that they don't like DON'T get rings and only the guys they DO like are actual champions. It is a dimension where there is no such thing as a TEAM. In their dimension the 08 Super Bowl Defense DIDN'T bust a coverage that allowed Larry Fitzgerald to score from about 60 yards out to put his team ahead at the end. In THEIR dimension the defense intercepted every one of Kurt Warner's passes and took it to the house and Ben then turned around and threw a pick that allowed the Cards to stay in it. Then at the end Ben didn't throw the game WINNING td pass. The defense then took the field and Troy became the qb and he hit Ike in the corner of the end zone for the win. Ben had NOTHING to do with it at all.

Did the D make that clutch tackle at the very last moment?
    Trophy case +1.
Did the D make that clutch throw to Holmes in the final seconds?
    Trophy case +2

You don't toss a future HOF, Super Bowl winning franchise QB away for a chance.
You do, however, take every chance and toss everything away to get one.

Crickets are chirping over the replies from the "get rid of Ben" crowd. Those who think he should be traded, please offer your insight as to what the replacement strategy should be.

i'll play. draft one because this is one of the most highly ranked group coming out in a while.

keep landry and the draft pick and build a team. we need a team around any qb, be it ben or anyone else.

when ben does finally go and he will, we have two guys that have learned the system and can step in and play. we don't know how they will preform, nor do we know how ben will preform in the future, but we have a plan in place.

since ben doesn't usually make a complete season we will have some vision of what may be to come. we still need backups, if ben is here or not. we will still rebuild if ben is here or not. we don't want to however see ben go belly up and then have to force a draft pick that could be much later and not a guy we really want.

I believe most of you guys that would keep ben well beyond his usefulness would love to see the next guy fail, just so you can say see I told ya so.

Mac, nowhere in your strategy am I seeing a statement that we should trade Ben this offseason. Instead, it sounds to me like you are advocating that we draft a QB as an eventual replacement. While I would certainly not do so with a 1st or 2nd round pick in 2014, it's common sense that at some point in the not too distant future we will need to draft one early.

To me it comes down to $$$. This offseason is the opportunity to do a sensible extension to Ben's contract. If he demands Rodgers/Ryan/Flacco dollars, then I have trouble moving forward. There's no doubt in my mind that rebuilding around Ben for another run in the 2015-2016 time frame gives us a better chance of getting #7 in the next few years than taking a chance on a draft pick. If the money works, that's the way to go. Get him a legit NFL-caliber LT (just good, not necessarily franchise caliber) and a couple of red zone weapons, and our offense will perform a lot better.

The "trade Ben now" supporters, were any of you Steeler fans during the 80s and 90s? How many of you had the joy of watching Bubby Brister play QB? The only reason we even had teams that could compete was because of a dominating defense and the best oline in the league. I remember thinking Kordell Stewart was going to be the missing piece and Jerome Bettis, man, what a difference the offense was but it still lacked a legitimate passing threat. Kordell could throw but when teams realized he wasn't accurate they stopped blitzing and let him beat them with his arm, by not blitzing they took away his run game and then we were back to the same old offense, a little better but still no QB. Tommy Maddox gave us a good few years, he made Plaxico Buress the receiver he was but all the years in between, all the time wondering if the team could just manage to find a Montana or someone, anyone better than Brister and let us not forget Kent Graham, how many of you were as fortunate as myself to actually watch him play? If you saw him play, and still ask for our current QB to be traded then I say it is time to ask the doc for some serious medication. The point is this team has gone 20 seasons with some horrible QBs and some mediocre QBs and Ben isn't one of those, believe me, there could be a lot worse, some of us old enough to remember vividly the struggles of the 80s know all to well what a team without even a decent QB looks like, even with a dominating defense it wasn't good, imagine with the defense we have now, you're asking for a complete disaster.
