The Steelers way overpaid for him I know he restructured recently but paying him around 7 million a year and he's approaching his mid thirties. I guess the Steelers consider him a shutdown corner but he's not just because he covers the opponents best receiver. He never makes a big play, I said at the time they should've kept Keenan Lewis and released Taylor and taken the salary cap hit. Then going forward you have Cortez Allen and Lewis as your starting CB's two young players in their prime. William Gay has no business being a starter.

Totally disagree with part of this, he regularly shuts down the other teams best receiver. Your other point is valid, given the point he is in his career, would have been better to retain Lewis, however, I don't know how much the cap played into it, like what kind of hit would they have taken for letting him go?

Ike is a great athlete but has the worst ball skills of nearly any number one corner I can remember.

He WAS a good corner. Now he is old and slow. Costly. Time to move on. And the point of releasing him and keeping Keenan Lewis is spot on. But LeBeau loves him. And they couldn't offer Lewis anything close to an offer being over the cap again! Time to let these overpaid older vets go, a few lean years and make a run. It's going to be a rebuilding so hold on...

80% of Taylor is better than 80% to 90% of the CB's coming out of college.

Lewis didn't want to remain with the Steelers or sign with another team outside of his hometown team the Saints.

Here we go again. If it were up to many everyone connected with this team would be gone.
Ike is top 10, arguably top 5 NFL CBs playing the game.

We are d@m lucky to have him and the shape he remains in is amazing. Total dedication, old school...
The problem is finding someone, anyone, to team up with him back there. It's been the problem forever.

Agree. What did Green do against Ike in that first Bengal game this year? Now what has Green done the rest of his games? Enough said!

Again, cover skills above average. Ball skills, well below average. Don't get me wrong, cover skills for a corner are very important, but it'd be nice to see a pick every now and again.

I just never could get past the thought of moving him to FS for his last couple of years.

I believe ike will take a pay cut. he has mentioned knowing he'll have to.

I have always been a big ike fan. I was pretty excited that we drafted him. after seeing him on the field here in spot duty as a rookie, I told my stepmom, he's going to be a good one. she really didn't know who he even was, except being a draft pick. he didn't disappoint me in his time here. ike's a likeable kid and has worked his butt off season in and season out. he comes in true steeler fashion and doesn't take what it means being here for granted. ike has missed very little time since he's been here. he works to make it that way. age is catching him, but a move to facing the offense for him would do wonders.

ike's been good for us and when he had a younger looking safety over the top it worked well. i'm telling you guys clark has not been the same player since he had the concussions last season.

Don't know how old you are. If you're a young man you may not remember everyone in Pittsburgh KNEW Ike was not going to resign. Ike came on the news and said he will remain a Pittsburgh Steeler. Ike kept his word.

Would be nice to have a pick or two but I'd rather have a guy who keeps the WR from gaining 130 yards.

Is there a better tackling corner in the league so here is how I look at bad ball skills above average coverage and great tackler equals a very good corner.

Is it too much to ask for both? I mean, this is the team of Blount and Woodson.

And to clarify, I like Ike. My bike likes Ike!

Use to be a very good tackler,
not so sure now? Why no pro bowls? Why, when he went into FA no offers from other teams?
Why was he was picked to be restructured recently? Now do you want to pay him 11 mill next year? Who is going to play CB for us next year Cortez Allen and Who?Curtis Brown? LOL, you all talk about a LT I think you better worry about the back end of this defense.

If my memory is correct wasn't he a "FA" for like a day and that was just while him and the Steelers worked out some of the language in his contract so he really didn't field any offers. Trust me he could have left for more then what we paid him.

Taylor probably took less money based on his friendship and bond with D. Rooney. I suspect that many of the players that play for the Steelers took less money then the would had received in free agency to stay with the team.

ben, ike, troy, Woodley all give 2 mil. back next year to stay. Timmons, heath, AB give back a mil. each. that's 11 mil. they would never miss. we have a mil.+ sitting idle that would carry over.

12 mil to play with not counting who leaves. keisel, clark, ziggy, worilds, gilbert, sanders, Paulson, suisham, warren, lhs, jones, dwyer, cotchery, spence?, foote, carter, sly, woods, c.brown, l.brown, plax, spaeth?? of course we will have 4 mil. from colon to still deal with, right off the top.

shouldn't we have enough money to find some players if they do this? who's the team players?

If you believe players will take substancially less than what other teams are offering I have some water front property in Arizona I would like to talk to you about. People there were NEVER any takers. You have to be a playmaker to command big bucks, Ike NEVER fit that mode.

I hate to say it, but based on our "normal injuries" the last 2 years, I'm thinking we're going to need more like around $16mil total. You might wanna increase them "donations" by $1mil each.
