Hope the interception in question wasn't the jump ball thrown by Ben from their endzone...no way an WR could be blamed for that.

The HC is not getting quality play. Most people on the boards seem to agree that play has suffered.

The readily both accepted and espoused argument used by Tomlin detractors is that the team is not prepared. I'm sure a head coach does not field a team if he sees something wrong in practice. So, I would think the team looks good, in practice. That would also lead me to believe there is some problem with execution, on game day. If the HC notices these issues, then what other method, besides benching, would be recommended to correct the issue? Tomlin doesn't seem to have an issue with benching players.

Yep that's the one. Ben went back to the sidelines and he motioned several times somebody went the wrong way. Never knew who until now.

Oh you mean he was benched when we were already down 24 points on the last drive? Yeah, big deal.

Unless it's Ben throwing a ball up for grabs that's intercepted. Or fumbling when we're in scoring range. Or Troy getting toasted multiple times a game. Or Ryan Clark who's giving up big play after big play. Or...I think you get the picture. Tomlin will bench players but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason. We were talking last year about how he benched every RB he had in the Cleveland game for fumbling and went with Chris Rainey, CHRIS RAINEY, to carry the load and that cost us the game and perhaps a chance at the playoffs. But he didn't seem to bench Wallace, Sanders or any of the WRs who were dropping multiple passes per game and fumbling in scoring territory, many times when they weren't even touched (see Sanders, Manny). Just too much inconsistency with Tomlin. And why did he even bring it up today? Was he asked about it? It's like he's saying, "look at me and this bold coaching move I made late in the game". I don't know. It seems like he's grasping for straws.

Benching aside in this article, I'm incredibly annoyed with Tomlin's statement that he has confidence in DL's ability to stop offenses "because he's DL- does that answer your question?". What a jerky response!

Jim Wexell has an interesting realistic take on what's going on with our team. Agree or disagree, but I think he's done a great job writing and researching the steelers. I'm a paying subscriber, not sure if this article is free or not, but here's the link.

I would love to get Mariotta and the LT to go with him at the top of this years draft. That kid can just flat out play...

From what I see with my own eyes and having played a little football myself. I don't see a team that is well prepared and there is no way they could look good in practice on either side of the ball. The only reason they might look good is because they are practicing against each other.

Yes, he was asked about it. It's in the article.

Brown is constantly causing turnovers with the catches he is missing. And that goes back to the 2012 game vs the Raiders. Maybe that's the difference?

DBs get burned sometimes. Troy's level of effort is not in question. And I'm sure that he is in position more often than not.

I understand what you're saying. Tomlin does need to bench even Ben, at times. But who knows what directives he's being saddled with? Haley was hired by the organization, not Tomlin. He could have been told he is hands-off with certain players.

I'm not claiming to know what's going on. I'm asking questions. There's a certain level of visibility that none of us will have unless there is someone on this board who is in the Steelers organization.

It appears to me that the entire organization may be having issues... top picks that aren't performing, veterans struggling, frustrated coaches, a front office battling cap deficiencies... It's not a pretty picture.

I am starting to question what's going on with the coaching, all around. But there isn't the transparency for me to be able to speak, definitively.

I love the impossible situation Tomlins detractors put him in :lolol:

If he ever gets us back to the SB, he won't be given an ounce of credit, it will be they won in spite of him or his coordinators are responsible or he's just a puppet, they finally got some star players to carry them.

    FROM THE ARTICLE:
Question: Do you still have confidence in Dick LeBeau’s ability to stop opposing offenses?
    Tomlin: “Certainly.”
    Question: Why?
“Because he’s Dick LeBeau,” Tomlin said tersely. “Does that answer your question?”

Maybe. But don't you think the question was just as "jerky"? Let's be honest, here. That question was levied specifically to try to create dissension within the Steelers organization. Do you think that reporter is unaware of who DL is, and what his contribution to the entire NFL both is and has been? Be real. That was a trap question, and that reporter got exactly what he/she deserved for asking that. Tomlin could have rolled out DL's resume, but why? He's done that before. The sharks smell blood in the water, but that shark good hooked and de-finned! :lolol:

Just another source to feed the need... I don't pay for it either, but every now and then they give you a freebie as was the case with this article. Good read.

I loved that response, Hey DL had a bad game but he has 50 years of success. I'll miss him when he is gone and yes his D isn't what it used to be but he is and will always be the greatest to me. I like Tomlin's responses in interviews it's his ability to field a team for the game that leaves me wondering.

:this!:... Though I believe a little bit more of hit your man at the line (concerning the DB's) would pay dividends

Benched for one drive in a unwinable game, no big deal really.
As much as I love Ben, why do these same rules not apply to Ben when he messes up?
