IMO Dwyer did that in the preseason....He was easily the best RB in the preseason.....

The fact that he was cut for INJURED backs, and a RB from another roster...blew my mind.

But then you watch them sign Mesko and cut the punters we had in camp.....then cut Mesko for another punter we didnt have in camp....as well as TE's off the street.

Makes you wonder what the preseason is even for.

I guess I'm in the minority here: I have always considered Colbert's work with the HC to be 50/50 when it comes to the draft. This was why he was brought in, because Cowher did NOT have input with Donahoe. Colbert was brought in because he would work with the HC on the draft.

    Dwyer's offensive stats: 1 carry 30 yards, 1 reception 23 yards.
Just needed to get him 10 more touches, and the Steelers could have had 600+ yards on offense too. :smiley1:

    Here's a complaint:

It takes a 55 point loss for Tomlin to say "I'm Angry"

As if he didn't notice this is what our team currently is.

now that I listen to it again, he doesn't even sound all that angry.

    Nothing more aggravating than that.

Thoughts and Questions on the game.

1 Why is Bell lining up as a 4th or 5th receiver when you have Moye on the bench ?

2 Why keep throwing to Bell when he was having so many drops?

3 Why do we keep putting Jones And Dryer back for kick off returns, when you have Sanders who is faster?

4 When is McClendon going to make a tackle, today he had 1 assist tackle.?

5 Wasn't it obvious to everyone that Brady was going to throw towards Gay all day?

6 Why not give Gay some help over the top?

7 Why do you run the same type of play twice on third and inches when you know we have the worst offensive line in the league and we just barely make it the first time.

8 Isn't it pretty bad when all three of your safeties have more tackles than your middle linebacker

9 Why not blitz a corner once in a while since we can't get a pass rush?

10 Doesn't it look like Sanders and Ben are not on the same page?
That last interception was on the receiver.

11 What kind of defensive game plan was that DB?

12 What a frightful, scary site to see Adams and Wimper playing next to each other, we can't do any better then that?

I love this team, but we are a mess that starts with Tomlin, the coordinators including the special teams guy and the mess with player talent that's on Corbett.

This is going to take a while to fix but we need to start as soon as possible. This train wreck actually started last year and continued thru the preseason and already half of this year without getting any better. I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel without some drastic changes in coaches and personnel.

It sad and almost looks like with the exception of a few the team is quitting on Tomlin.

I will add one more ponderous question to you all and this is not meant to be me rubbing salt in any ones wounds. I hated listening to Simms go on and on about how the Pats knew that the Steelers really didn't have a pass rush so they knew they could handle it and make plays downfield. That being said who here would have rather seen them ask Ben, Woodley, Brown and others to take a paycut instead of restructuring and kept James Harrison just to have the semblance of a potent pass rush? Plenty said Silverback was done and that Worilds was going to be better but let me tell you to this point I would take a 35 year old just off an injury Harrison over a young Jarvis Jones and an underwhelming Jason Worilds. Maybe the Pats would have been so sure that they could pass protect then.

Tomlin has given me the faith that even the Rooneys might fire a coach for just having one loosing season.

I agree Hack. Who's running this team? Who is making these decisions? Cutting players who are better then the ones you keep.

No thanks on keeping Harrison overpaid and under performing at 35 it was time to move on he wouldn't make a difference either. That's one of the reasons the Steelers are screwed now too many veterans not earning their paychecks.

We witnessed a team get EXACTLY what it deserved and has had coming for a long time. Most of us around here have known that this wasn't a TRUE #1 defense for a while. We have also realized that it's incredibly stupid and monumentally dumb coaching to let an NFL Wide Receiver have a 5 yard cushion all game long. It is incredibly stupid to draft guys that OBVIOUSLY (to EVERYONE except TOMLIN) that don't fit your scheme. This team is in an identity crisis and has been for a while. Do we want to be a power run team? Do we want to be a pass heavy team? Do we want to be a bend but don't break defense or do we want to be a soft little pansy defense that is reminiscent of the Colts under Manning. We have incredibly stupid football players that have no awareness of the situation. We gave up almost 100 yards in penalties today. William Gay is pathetic and has been and I've never liked him and today he came up against a good qb and he was the Willy I knew he has always been. We can't run with receivers. Ryan Clark is a disgrace. Timmons spent a lot of time on the ground today. We have no depth. The Pats were losing guys and just actually living up to the "NEXT MAN UP" philosophy. Bill is an INCREDIBLE coach. Tomlin is honestly not worthy to be mentioned in the same post as him and I apologize to him for doing that. You saw a New England team that came ready to play. They went for the kill. They were STILL killing Ben when Tomlin was stupid enough to let him throw. Their corners were still playing UP ON THE RECEIVER and giving up NOTHING when the game was 55-31!!!! THAT is a well coached team! Tomlin will be back. Lebeau will be back. I really won't be surprised if Haley is too. We are overpaying too many people. It's time to take pay cuts or go. None of the guys have EARNED what they are getting paid given that we have TWO wins. Period.

Clinging on to the past is one reason why this team is in the state it is. Veterans kept in role so we can't see what we've got in their younger back ups.

There is one thing that will turn this team around, long term, and that's a distinctive philosophy on both sides of the ball, with players drafted and acquired to fit that system. And that, my friends, will take a lot longer than a few games.

To echo BF: I hate this season.

Curious if any starters get cut this week. Apparently, the punter wasn't "the" problem.
