just heard that jonathon martin walked out on the dolphins because of bullying by his teammates. i like us to trade mike adams for jonathan martin. martin played tackle oppsite side to decastro at stanford and was a very good lineman in college. I haven't seen much of him in the pro but saw at least 6/7 games at stanford. very solid player.

Would rather deal with our own potential bust then someone else's.

Jonathan Martin as struggled just like Adams. Not sure who's worst though.

Apparently he has some mental health problems and his teammates have nicknamed him "Big Weirdo" and they pranked him and apparently he got sick of it.

It's a good thing you aren't the Steelers GM with a trade proposal like this.

Isn't Tanahill the most sacked qb in the league???

They have a Pouncey at center too, what makes you think their o-linemen are better than ours?

The grass is greener, I suppose. We're tired of our old bust, lets trade him for someone else's new bust.

No thanks to this hypothetical trade. We need leaders on this team, not fragile psyches. I still think Adams will be a valuable tackle for us, we just need to allow him to learn a position, preferably RT, and stick with it. I like what we are doing with him now, inserting him into the game as the 6th OL (3rd TE) to allow him to keep getting game experience, while allowing him to earn back his confidence in a less-crucial position.

Guys a whack job. His team mates picked on him?? What you think them Outside linebackers are going to say to him as they are slapping him around?

No Thanks. Adams has struggled at LT in the pros and got benched. He took it well, and has handled his business in a way that screams professionalism. A once projected 1st rd pick @ LT and now he's our 3rd TE, not complaining, just doing his job as he's asked to.

This to me means a lot. I want Adams on this team because he's talented and mentally tough. He will overcome his struggles and become a starter again.

I hope we draft one of the top two LT in this years draft and let Adams and Gilbert fight it out for RT.

Can we knock off the head case comments. That is one of the things I couldn't stand when ppl were bashing Limas Sweed. AS a person who didn't really fit in, in school and march to their own drum, I took my fair share of teasing, I learned to deal with it but what did cause my temper to flare is when my younger brother who is bi-polar and has social anxiety disorder to the point of being borderline non-functional in social situations, was teased and made fun of, or misunderstood by teachers in school. He has made great strides to the point where he is a team leader of his IT group that works at the local college and can carry on a conversation with strangers. The whole labeling people wacko's or nut jobs when there are valid reasons for social anxiety bugs me. I am not calling for everyone to be all PC or anything but just careful about throwing the nut job thing around.

That being said I hope his teammates feel a certain amount of shame. I never did agree with the hazing that happens football, amking the rookies by you breakfast or carry your pads or sing their college fight song in camp. Sure it has happened to vets but it is a vicious circle that needs to stop somewhere. You are trying to put a team together to compete for a Superbowl and some players are more into what new hazing they can do to rookies. IN Martin's case yes he has gone through college football and maybe it does say something about his mental toughness. Maybe he has been bullied all his life and thought that maybe making it to pro football would mean that he had made it and didn't have to worry about being the butt of jokes, who knows but I have more respect for him leaving a situation that made him feel like less of a person than being a tough guy and sucking it up. Is he better than Adams? who knows, I hope he comes back and plays. I'd like to see what Adams can mature into.

Any ways my two cents is done, and rant over.

My thing is who in the crap would bully a humongous linemen ya know? I guess only other linemen. I'm sure there's definitely an alpha dog mentality among football players.

I wonder if this guys issues were mentioned on his scouting report coming out of college? Do teams have access to that info?

Speaking from experience most of the time when some one has an issue like social anxiety or bipolar the hide it from most ppl because of the stigma. I'm not sure they would reveal iy to college officials or coaches. If that is whst this is.

I read that he actually drove himself straight to the hospital when the incident occurred. At least he didn't come and shoot the place up or kill himself though you know? What's weird though is how would they know that he had a problem? Or maybe they didn't know and that's why they were giving him crap and maybe just thought he was shy or something. What's weird is that Brandon Marshall played there too and he had some issues mentally and once he got that in check he actually started playing a lot better and even tries to raise awareness about mental health.

I've said it before: The Military gets blasted for a hint of hazing, but they laud the hazing in training camp and during the season in pro sports! Do you realize how much of our time is spent in lectures or exposed to hazing, bullying, sexual assault, equal opportunity, awareness and prevention training?
