Big difference in that Gruden was one tuck rule away from taking the raiders to the superbowl, against the pats, the next year he took his team to the AFCC game and lost to the ravens, so he did coach a raider team that was cheated out of a superbowl chance with the tuck rule, then made it the AFCC game with a team he built, and Calahan the coach that took over the raiders took Grudens team to the superbowl to play against him, so Gruden built a superbowl ready team and that's why tampa paid through the nose to Al Davis to get him, Tomlin hasn't built anything here but an out house......

I like the idea of Quinn, but he would have to bring in an awesome offensive coordinator with him.

Why would Fox come here from Denver? Possibly immediately after winning a Super Bowl?

More to the point, if the people interviewing Fox, Cowher and Fisher already know what the "right" answer is for how to plan fielding 53 aggressive guys etc. etc., then wouldn't they just get the current HC to do it?

Actually I'd rather see my choice of Hue Jackson as HC brought in as our next OC.

I did mention the Brinks truck right? OK. Check. Thought so.

My actual order of preference would be

Jeff Fischer. He came 1 foot away from winning the big dance and last night he had his team 1 yard shy of pulling a huge upset. He gets his team up to challenges consistently even though they are usually big underdogs. He would have a huge incentive to get back and win the SB. BTW - I hate the last play call last night. It was just a dumb low percentage play. I'm sure he's still second guessing himself on that.

John Fox. Always has his teams playing hard. It's just that this season he has universal outstanding talent to work with. I'll be surprised if they don't win it all this year if they don't get hit with the injury bug.

Bill Cowher - His players loved playing for him and they played agressively nearly every game. Sure he did unfortunately lose some AFCCG's but two could probably be attributed to spy gate and another on a weird very warm afternoon in late January in Pittsburgh. Not an excuse though. Oh yea, and SB XXX was awesome right up until Neil O'dummy possibly got paid.

At any rate, If MT doesn't right this ship soon then he will be run out of Pittsburgh the same way BA was.

I believe the problem is that the current HC can't get 53 guys to be agressive ect., ect.

yes. as I've said before, we need some type of good offensive minds brought in. make him assistant head coach or whatever name they want to bestow on them.

we have plenty of defensive minds here. we need someone to help MT and Colbert pick players that fit the system that is being built offensively.

Without Manning John Fox would be a losing coach right now, he isn't really a top coach, his defense has given up over 200 points already, and without a high scoring offense they would be dead in the water..........

Yes! As should have happened last year. Hue is the man!

Playing the game, I'd bring in off the top of my head:

    Lovie Smith
    Mike Zimmer
    Chuck Pagano's brother (DC somewhere)

Maybe we will get our guy next season  Most likely though, if they jettison TH, they will promote Kirby as they originally intended.

Solid choices for HC, I couldn't believe Chicago fired Lovie.

To those few that are promoting Lovie Smith, this is the head coach that stubbornly stuck with REX GROSSMAN as his starting QB regardless of how many turnovers he had. A great defensive mind but like Tomlin he doesn't seem to have a grasp on what the offense needs to do to get better.

A short list of guys I would want
    Randy Fitchner
    Bill O'Brian
    Keith Butler
    Mike Zimmer
    Hue Jackson
That's in no particular order but I feel all have the right qualities that we would need in a future HC.

Who was he supposed to play instead? There was no one behind him and Cutler didn't get there until 2009. Say what you want about Lovie but he did take a team to the SB with Rex, that counts for something.

Not that Orton was lighting anything on fire but he didn't turn the ball over. He was a game manager and led the team the previous 2 seasons (both winning) when Grossman got hurt.
