Watched the Raider mess again, and some notes-
Paulson had a lackluster block when Mesko got blocked.
Heyward is starting to play very well.
Woodley didn't have a good game, but without looking tell me how the other side played.....Jones or Worldis? OLB play was brutal, and I hoped for more pressure. Pryor is a big guy but I truly thought we'd get him more than we did.
Rod Streeter is a pro bowler! Well, he looked like one against us, but who doesn't? Nice coverage Ike.
Sanders and Ben need to spend some QT together.
Troy is having a very good year. Too bad he has no help.
Ben is still running from the Raiders D line. People calling for his head, yet HALF OF YOU couldn't tell me the o lineman who spelled the injured? Exactly!
That's just the first half lol.........

4 catches 45 yards 11.2 yards per catch 0 touchdowns

I don't think that he'll send the film of today's game to the selection committee in Canton.

Prior had 88 yards passing. We were gashed on the ground and gave us too many big runs and that bothers me even more than giving up passing yards.

Defense wasn't stellar but the offense and special teams put the nails in.

We've not seemed to be the same against the run since Casey have we?

I think it is more than that. Casey really wasn't doing much his last couple of years either. I mean McClendon isn't a Pro Bowler, but he is basically doing what Casey was doing his last few years. Casey his last two years despite what many people think did not always require a double team like he did in earlier into his career.

I think it is a lot of things. Farrior used to be a beast, he's gone. Also Harrison used to be huge against the run, he always sealed his side which basically meant teams could only run to one side and that got stuffed up pretty well. Also one of the biggest things I always wondered about Woodley getting the big contract was the guy was never that great against the run - he is basically a one-trick pony in terms of creating a pass rush and really he often only does that well against weaker tackle or TE. He did nothing yesterday, nothing at all - he didn't even have an assist I think. That is pretty awful for a guy who is supposed to be your star defensive player.

Yeah I mean I would be in favor of some guys taking pay cuts. I don't think Woodley has been worth the money he has gotten and he has always been my favorite between him and Timmons. I do think Woodley has looked better this year than he has in a while though.

Numbers were ok considering Pryor's numbers, but what I was getting at was the timing of his catches. He had a few but it seemed like they were chain movers.

The one thing that HAS to be addressed is the Punter. He looked terrible, he has no leg to speak of and he don't stick it inside the 15. I was no fan of Butler, but I think he was better.

Whiffing on his replacement and on lineman on both sides of the ball is killing us.

He had two catches on a drive that resulted in a punt and two on a drive that resulted in a touchdown.

That's not even worth a game ball. He had three first down catches but to say that's evidence that Ike played poorly is pretty thin stuff.

We lost this game at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, in coaching, red zone offense, special teams, and dropped passes - one that turned into a pick.

there was a reason Woodley and jones/worilds didn't get many sacks and it started with the first play from scrimmage. they were content to hold the edge after his long run and allow the DE's to be the pass rush against pryor for the most part. a lot of it was by design. take away that first 95 yard run and our run defense wasn't that bad. in the second half our defense played really, really well.

oh and by the way, adams, cody Wallace and whimper were the o-linemen that came in.:smiley1:

that whimper injury was very strange looking. his right leg kicked out then fell back on his left knee. didn't see a good angle though. Wallace seemed overmatched to me.

If you think the punter will help us become a good team, you are mistaken. It all starts with Colbert, Tomlin, Haley, and ALL the players, including Ben and Troy. This was one of those games that show we are TRULY a bad team.

You should at least get a game ball replica and a 6-pack for re-watching the game.

It's not the production of the catches but when he caught them. Usually when it was 3rd down. And Ike was no where to be found. Sometimes he wasn't even in the picture. I see why Lebeau plays them off the receiver because Ike got beat at the line of scrimmage right out of the gate.

I agree, while it is frustrating not getting sacks the defense shifted to stopping the run and in the second half, that is what they did.

    Spot on!!!

First half we were bad, defensively, but made 2nd half adjustment. Our superstar rookie OLB Jones lost containment twice in 1st half and benched, only 2 snaps in 2nd half.

1st half we gave up 244 total yds, 182 rushing. 2nd half 35 yds total, and just one 1st down. worilds had one hurry and one tackle but kept containment.

Hood had 6 snaps out of 59, Heyward had 55. It would seem Heyward has become the man over Hood. Not sure why Allen only had 14 snaps to Gays 57 unless you factor in Allen hasn't been who we were expecting after last year and Gay's play has been solid. Add to that Gay is one of our best tacklers, run stoppers. Shark only had 11 snaps.

Do away with the big plays caused by mental mistakes, lost containments, and our defense played well.

Our offense stunk bad. Ben had mental breakdown while running for his life, run game..... wait, what run game? Suisham missing TWO chip shots.....WOW!!!

And who would have thought we would have gotten worried if Whimper got injuryed??

Also a Big Thanks to TTF!!!!!!!!!! You da man!

yea , that was ugly looking.

I don't know, I watched some replays on steelers.com and Wallace seemed like the only guy playing full tilt. he was quite active. not perfect, but he will surely see more practice time this week which could help. he at least played angry it looked like. I liked the effort.

we have seen some guys come in and play a lot better on this line. beachum, wallace, velasco, and whimper this year. DD and foster have even come on more this year at times and i'll give Bicknell some credit for this. he only has so much to work with and they have shown some decent play when thrown in the mix.
