POLL -- Favorite Steeler Nicknames (Select 3)

I had to make some very difficult cuts here. It was not easy. I took out the nicknames that are the least used or known among fans (Potsie is big in the locker room, but not with us), and I admit in the place of ones I thought would not compete (Silverback), I stuck a couple of my favorites in there because it's my poll. Favorite nickname, not player. Willie Parker's a great example, because not many of us would list him as a favorite player, but he's got a fantastic nickname.

I voted for slash, the bus, and fast willie parker......Gotta love the offense

 

Fast Willie's was genius because it's so blunt. We should have kept it up with all the players: Fast-but-not-as-fast-as-fast-Willie Stefan Logan,Rubbish Limas Sweed, etc.

 

Had to go with 3 legends - The Chief, Mean Joe and The Bus! Sorry Terry - I never called you the Blonde Bomber, so I had to leave you out.

 

For me, out of those choices, it was Mean Joe (just because it's one of the most classic of all time), The Bus, and Big Snack (because that one still makes me laugh).

 

Fast Willie wasnt really that fast. I thought his nickname was Wee Willie Parker. How about mini-memo?

 

Terry is more the bald bomber. Even back then.

 

The chief, Mean Joe and Big Snack...how can you not vote for "Big Snack". Aside from Mean Joe if there was ever a more appropriate nic-name than "Big Snack I'd like to see it. I heard they were going to call him "grab my food and I'll eat you along with it, bones and all" but weren't sure that it would catch on.

 

It was Wee Willie Williams - who I think was the only player to play in both SB 30 and 40.

I'm glad Terry Bradshaw got no votes. I hate that nickname too.

 

I went with Mean Joe (maybe the greatest of all time with Too Tall) and then Dirt Dawson and Big Snack. When I first heard big snack a couple years ago I was so psyched, I don't know why, but I love it.

I like "Ziggy" with this new clan too.

 

Me too, I thought Big Snack was hilarious for some reason.

I didn't include nicknames given before football. Ziggy Hood and Rocky Blier had those names since infancy.

 

I voted for Mean Joe and the Bus because of nationwide recognition, Big Snack for humor.

I guess it was only meant for individual players, or else you would have had to include "The Steel Curtain", as a choice.
We had this thread recently, just not as a Poll, and I couldn`t believe it took 3 pages, before someone mentioned that one...
Also, How about "The Emperor", for Chuck Noll?
Or MY fave... "Jack Splat"?!?... The way Lambert played the game... He didn`t need a "nickname"... but "Jack Splat", says it all!!!

I have always loved "Big Snack" lol
