I live in San Francisco and a group of Steelers faithful from my work is going to be attending the Oakland game. We will be in the B Lot-club lot and hope to make a strong showing for the Nation. Who else is making the trip?

I wish you well. Being from So Cal I swore off Raider games many years ago after splurging on high price tix thinking I'd avoid the low life Raider fan section, but alas - I was right in the midst of the San Quentin alumni section. The one thing I can say about Raider fans - they sure can spill more beer on you than any other fans in football and will trip all over you heading back and forth to the beer stand and urinals. You'll have a blast. Get a load of tattoos prior to the game though.

Im from SoCal also and have had too many bad run ins with raiders fans and choose not to go through that anymore, they actually bully chargers fans and take over quailcom stadium when the raiders are there so I definitely won't be going to any games in Oakland with my low tolerance

Make sure you bring lots of audio/visual recording devices and maybe a concealed camera so you can record the assault for evidence.

Being in So Cal I had a few offers myself for tix. No thanks!

Pick your poison, death by BART or by Raider nation. Sure, this isn't always the end up of every visiting fan, but I'm not willing to roll the dice with my family. Too much B.S. Going on in the CA Bay Area sports arenas the last couple of years.

Down for a Chargers game though next time around.

Where were you guys when I posted a thread looking for Steeler bars in San Francisco? I'm here right now on a vacation and would love to go to that game on Sunday, but I'm heading home this coming Thursday unfortunately.

Heading to Giordano Bros in North Beach right now for some pints and snacks.

ps. There's a gorgeous waitress that works at Harreys Bar on Filmore St. She's a hardcore Steelers fan and very friendly.

I'll be in San Jose this weekend. I'd rather have a root canal than go to Oakland for any reason.

I went to a few Raider -Steeler games when they played in LA. I don't know what gets into them but they spit on you throw beer and push you in the back everywhere you walk. I was involved in 2 fights ( just to defend my wife ) and swore off any Raider game attendance. If you want a good west coast experience go to Arizona games or Seattle. They are decent fans. I even went to Kansas City once to watch the Steelers play and although that's the loudest stadium in the UAS they are also decent toward visiting teams.

Yeah, I've only been to 2 Stadiums outside of Heinz, Jacksonville and Washington. Jacksonville was great because there were many Steelers fans from before they had a team. Plus there were a lot of old folks at the games.

Washington was a mixed bag. Caught a preseason game there and they were insane under the overhang. Got the Monday night there in halfway decent seats and had a better experience. (Of course half the stadium being Steelers fans probably helped)

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One.. never underestimate the fans expect the unexpected. Two.... take it outside never start anything inside the stadium unless it's absolutely necessary. And three.. be nice. People who really want to have a good time won't go to Oakland. Got entirely too many troublemakers there. Too many 40-year-old adolescents, felons, power drinkers and trustees of modern chemistry. Wish Dalton was still alive we'd go clean that place up! :lolol:

My wife's friend is from Cincinnati and she took her mom to the Reds/Pirates WC Game. They left in the 5th inning. She said she couldn't take it anymore and actually feared for their safety. Poor girl had a full beer dumped over her head right in front of dear old mom. That's when they decided it wasn't worth it to be there. I told the wife that there is no excuse but there was 21 years worth of agony and frustration built up to that game and it would be like me going to the Dog Pound in Cleveland or to a Pens/ Flyers game in Philly. You better know what to expect.

Have fun, Stay Safe and don't depend on security to help you out. They completely ignored the girl in that story.

    Places I would not attend.
    Cleveland Dog Pound.
Oakland Black Hole. (may go to the game solo there but would never take family and certainly would avoid the "Black Hole").
Philly - any sport - Place sucks anyways.
Baltimore - Seen how a Rats fan was treated at Heinz. Can't imagine it would be any different vice versa.

Maybe I was just lucky last year, but we had absolutely no problems in Oakland with a large group of Steelers fans. Before the game, we were offered food and friendliness from the fans in the parking lot. We spoke with a lot of different locals, most of whom had a ton of respect for the Steelers.

On the other hand, I had an absolutely terrible experience at Candlestick Park for that Niners/Steelers game that occurred on MNF like two years ago when the power went out. People were obnoxious and borderline violent at every turn. I actually got spit on.

Anyways, I guess what I'm saying is, you can't always go by these stereotypes. I figured the Niners fans would be a wine a cheese crowd and they were way more thug than Oakland.

I've been to away games rocking Steelers stuff in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, the Meadowlands and the two Bay Area stadiums. The Niners fans were far and away the worst.

Anyways, we have a group going and I expect a good time but as always will be keeping my head on a swivel.

To Mojave, Giordanos is my spot! I'm there every week for the games. Best part about living in North Beach. Staff and food is great. Nobody is going to like it in this forum but the sandwiches are better than Primanti's.

That's good to hear. I suspect that is probably the way it is for MOST fans since there are visiting fans at every game and not constant news stories about violence, etc.

That being said, it may be best not to wear a Frenchy Fuqua jersey to O.Co.....
