at this point we dont have a ton of film to look at on either guy, but i think Moye has shown the ability to be a guy that can make bigger plays.

i know he dropped a td yesterday, but he did make a great catch earlier in the game for a 1st down. i think Wheaton can be good, but to me hes the same player as AB and Sanders and they already have that guy on the roster.

Moye brings a different threat to the team. i think given the chance he will be the better player. i wish he would have made that catch, but all wrs drop passes. i think if hes given a real opportunity he can be a guy that is a game changer for this offense.

just curious to see what other people think since we have had a chance to see a little of both guys now.

I've been a big fan of Moye since his display in preseason, and I agree he adds a different dimension.

I'm wondering if Wheaton's role will be a direct replacement for Sanders if and when the time comes.

I prefer Wheaton. That dropped could've killed us and I just think Wheaton is more explosive.

i kind of think the same about Wheaton replacing Sanders. im sure they would rather let Sanders walk than to pay him big money especially if Wheaton shows he can be the same type of player.

i will say this about Sanders though. he showed me something on that kick return. i think he should be back there returning kicks from now on. he showed speed. i know hes fast, but he was flying on the run.

I say both. I really wish Moye would have caught that touchdown, it would given him a helmet the rest of the year if he did. But, he made a heck of catch and he got drilled and held onto it, earlier in the game, don't forget that play, I think it's going unnoticed by quite a few fans.

Wheaton has speed, and it's needed, I just hope his finger injury, doesn't impact his catching ability.

I say Moye... It's not like he was wide open and just dropped the ball, he was covered and in the corner of the in zone, trying to stay inbounds

that would have been a nice catch. although it was a perfect throw and should of been caught, but i agree that Moye seems to have the ability to be very good.

    Not an and/or situation.
    Moye's reach
    Wheaton's speed

    Need both.

If I have to choose between the two- Wheaton. I don't know why we have to choose, though. Moye's height is a great asset, and he has shown that he will make that 'big catch'. Obviously he missed that catch in the endzone yesterday, though, which is obviously something you don't want to see. Obviously.

Chances are they will keep both because Sanders may want too much money. If its one or the other, before the season I would have said Wheaton hands down but Moye has shown me more, I know that hasnt been all Wheatons fault though. Tough call, I still think Wheaton can be everything I had envisioned from him but I really like what Moye brings to the table, leaning a little more towards Moye I guess.

    X2 BOTH

Moye is more of a "Plaxico type receiver" vs a Brown or Sanders type, so it may take a bit longer for Ben and Moye's chemistry to develope, but it should be well worth the wait.

I had a couple flashbacks to watching the mid 1960's Chargers yesterday. Moye's catch reminded me of Lance Alworth and Bell's running style reminded me lot of Keith Lincoln.:applaud:

I think both should get reps. Can't coach speed (Wheaton), and can't coach height (Moye). Moye could be used solely as a red zone threat, while Wheaton would be the main #4 receiver. While I would like to retain Sanders after this season, I think it was on our FO's mind when they drafted Wheaton in the 3rd round this year. Next year's group will likely consist of #1 AB - #2 Wheaton - then in no specific order Cotch, Moye, and J.Brown (or someone else that beats JB in camp)

I also have been big on Moye. I really would like to know if he will get benched next week for dropping that td. Probably not. I think he only gets benched for CATCHING them. LOL.

I`m in the "either/or" camp... Don`t see why it has to be one or the other. Give em BOTH equal chances for the rest of this year, then see if we decide to keep Sanders in the off-season.
If we keep Sanders, that probably hurts Wheaton`s chances moving forward.
If Wheaton shows he can replace Sanders, we save the money, and keep em both.
Cotch will probably be gone as well... there is room to be had at the Steeler Inn....

After the first catch, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he played further with a concussion based off of his landing after the catch. Brown dropped a very catchable/ well covered td pass last week against the Jets, give the kid a break.

Well said... And hopefully he won`t make the mistake Redman did, in admitting that concussion in public... LOL...

They will need both of them after Sanders leaves next season for free agency.

I really don't mind if Sanders leaves. I just don't feel like he has any real chemistry with Ben.

There was some chemistry on the play-action, against the Jets....
And he has had a FEW other chances since the bye...
I agree he isn`t Ben`s fave... But if Ben gave him a few more chances, he might put up some better numbers, so MIGHT Wheaton, or Moye.
But why would Ben throw to them when he has Antonio, Heath, and Cotch?
Ben`s usually pretty good at spreading the ball around...
Let`s see what happens the rest of this year, IF Wheaton and Moye get some chances.
Takes time to develop "chemistry", and I think there is a little the between Sanders, and Ben, but Sandersd has been hurt for so much of his career, Ben is more comfortable throwing to the guys he`s used to.
Let`s put a few more guys in the mix, on a more consistent basis, and see who Ben wants to throw to.
    Might be Manny, Might not.
I just would like to see em all get equal chances, besides his "Big 3", and his "checkdowns"(who should also get more targets, but that`s just not Ben`s usual style... He was getting better at it at he beginning of last season. We get more leads, who knows, he might be more comfortable throwing to the checkdowns, if he doesn`t have to catch up, to win... ?...
    GO STEELERS!
