Brown is having a GREAT year. Wallace, not so much. :smiley1:

Put all of his numbers together — 41 catches on 53 targets, 498 yards, averages of 12.1 per catch and 99.6 per game — and he easily leads Pro Football Focus' wide receiver efficiency rankings. His overall ranking of 13.5 is well ahead of Chicago's Brandon Marshall (11.5).
Brown is surpassing all of his previous three seasons as well as the numbers being put up by his predecessor Mike Wallace, who signed a $60 million deal with Miami but is the NFL's third-to-last ranked receiver at No. 104. Wallace has 22 catches for 281 yards and a touchdown.

Good post Jack. Brown is off to a great start. Looking more and more like the Steelers know what they're doing.

I have a lot of faith in our front office on when to sign someone vs. letting them go. How many times have we said man they let (fill in the blank) go only to see their production go down or end up in trouble or both. I think Ben is starting to develop some trust in his o-line and he has found a new favorite target in Brown. Plus Brown is able to get off the line of scrimmage when being jammed and from what I remember Wallace was not the best at that. I really like what Brown brings and hopefully Sanders, Wheaton and Cotchery/Moye keep improving.

I agree. Another good example of that is James Harrison. He isn't exactly lighting it up this year. I was concerned that we might have given up on Mendy too soon but he's sucking wind this year too and still dancing with the stars behind the LOS. Keenan Lewis, I think, had his mind made up that he was going home to NO so I'm not sure what the Steelers could have done to retain him.

Guy at work (Cowgirls fan) was busting my balls last year about not signing"your best WR" Wallace...My response was "We already locked up our best WR for the next 5 years. You guys want Wallace as a #2 go for him!!"

That's just it, Myron, I think Wallace is AT BEST a number 2. And the only reason he's a number 2 is to take the top off the defense to create opportunities for your number one. His mediocrity in every category except speed will preclude him from ever being a number 1. Once his speed is gone, he's done.

Brown, on the other hand, is well rounded enough to be a solid number 1. If he were 6'3" instead of 5'10", he'd be mentioned in the same breath as Calvin Johnson, Fitz, and others.

Why do you think Ike Taylor always wanted to fight AB in practice? Because he can't cover him.If you get AB the ball in the
(right spot,Please Steeler offensive people)he can be dynamite. This was any easy choice in my opinion for the Steelers.Better route runner, better hands, BETTER
    WORK ETHIC.

I understand that Wallace's numbers are down. But I would like to see Brown catch more TD's. Brown at least has Ben throwing to him. Wallace is in Miami, where as of late, football has no chance.

Wallace dropped a S%^T load of passes thrown by Ben. He didnt earn the nickname "Hands of stone" in Miami!!

I think Brown is the better all around receiver.

Brown is more of a Hines Ward type in that he is more of an inside guy and possession receiver. Like Ward he needs an outside threat to reach full potential. The Steelers do not have that outside guy right now imo. The outside guy does not have to be Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald, just simply a threat as Brown is very good.

    My 2 cents.

I can tell you this. Wallace isn't packing the house like you would want a $60 million man to do. I turned over and watched some of that game on Sunday Ticket today and there were TONS of empty seats. I bet you could look online and see a pic from today and you would see a lot of empty seats there. I think if you're gonna give somebody that kinda money he should be a seat seller ya know?

I see he had another pedestrian game today with 5 catches in 10 targets with 76 yards. $60 million huh?

If that's $60 million production I bet a lot of role player's agents are licking their chops right now. LOL.

I think it says a lot that Brown catches 80% of the passes thrown his way and Wallace is about 50% for the year. So half of all passes thrown his way are either successfully defended or dropped (or an errant throw). $60 million huh?

Yeah if he's only gonna catch half then maybe he should be bumped down to $30 mill??? LOL.
