All that criticism in the offseason must have gotten to him because he showed up to camp in shape and he's ballin. He already has as many sacks as he had last season. I just hope he stays healthy and get double digit in sacks. He seems to have cut back on the social media also where he received a lot of heat from fans last season.

a good player on the other side makes him look better. he does look better, but not great for the money he makes. it's only 5 games in also. i'll take a wait and see on him.

Thank you Mac for clarifying this, people he is in the 55 mill range, do you feel
his production matches his pay? I too will take a wait and see approach.

no slick, I think for the production with a good player on the other side, compared to the production with an average player on the other side, he's not superstar high pay worthy.

it really brings down the money available for other players for one thing. I also believe when JJ get's even better, if we put that average guy in Woodley's spot, he plays bigger too.

I just don't think he's as special as he could be for that money. he's still only got 16 tackles in 5 games a lot of those are assists. 3 a game. I just think we could do better with that kind of money for an overall OLB. I don't see the same fire in woodleys belly that was there in his first few years.

I think playing from behind puts the defense in a tough position.

I wonder what the coincidence is between the great sack leaders of all time and their teams win loss record? Certainly there are games where the register a sack and the lose, likewise don't have a sack and win. Point being, start playing with a lead and Woodley and the whole defense will be better.

Playing 5 less years, Woodley has 56 career sacks, James Harrison has 65.

First of all, when Woodley signed his extension he was a top tier up-and-coming edge rusher, and we paid him what the market dictates players like that get paid. He was not overpaid, he was paid market value so that we could keep him without going through the drama of him playing a contract year and hitting free agency. After signing the contract, he started off 2011 with 9 sacks in 8 games, including 5 in 3 games in which Harrison didn't play due to injury. He was a monster, and was having his best season. That's when the hamstring injury struck. I was critical of his 2012 performance (and what I perceived to be questionable conditioning), but I think he has bounced back fairly well this season and would be looking better statistically if the D-line in front of him was doing its job. He's already on pace for a 13 sack, 3 forced fumble season, which isn't too shabby. I think he's ready to break out and have a 3 sack game, maybe today.

it's not all about sacks when you're full time in this defense, you have to play more then just designated pass rusher. he make's a little over a million dollars a sack. he played pretty well sunday, I will say.

two weeks ago I jumped Timmons on here for lackluster play and since, he's been an animal. I wrote this about Woodley this week and he had his best game of the season so far. who will I pick on this week? it seems to be working.:hmmm:

All I know is he's playing better than last year. And if he can get some help from the other side he would be a monster.

Lets see, he has Ziggy Hood on his side, a rookie inside linebacker behind him, McCleadon starting for the first at nose and a rookie outside linebacker on the other side.:hmmm:
