has the Steelers FO completely lost it? they sign Levi Brown who obviously wasnt 100% healthy. now they sign some TE named Gordon and hes hurt and cant practice.

are these guys in the FO even doing their homework anymore? are they even trying? im starting to think they are just signing guys just to sign them. its getting almost laughable.

there were threads during last season and all of the offseason about hiring a new conditioning coach because so many of their players where getting hurt. now these guys are just getting signed and barely have seen the practice field and their getting hurt. something is going on over there and it needs to be fixed.

i understand injuries happen. its part of the game, but when your signing guys that cant even make it to their 1st game somethings wrong there.

this team has a huge road to climb and i love that they are signing guys and making an effort to save their season, but this team has no money to just throw away. they need to be much smarter about the guys they are bringing in.

hey Colbert, im available. i can make it through a practice or 2 and collect that league minimum check. since your just throwing money away.

Don't you get it loveem . There is nothing available right now other then scrubs. Kevin Colbert is NO WAY to blame for this nor the medical staff. Kevin has a 13 year record with alot of top picks that have performed well. Any GM after 13 years is going to make a mistake or two. This organization has nothing but pride and a record to back it up.

Just take your pills as prescribed and everything will be alright lol

I was thinking he same thing when I saw Shane Graham in the Black N Gold standing on the sideline watching his old teamplaying against us, and then poof he's gone. Sure, it's a very important position but the Kicking Canuck seemed to be just fine.
If they're gonna throw away then sign me. I look better than he does in the Black N Gold!

I have been volunteering my services to this team for a lot longer than you guys...stand in line! Matter of fact, my phone is ringing right now. "Hello, Mike what can...Oh, hi, mom! Yes I will keep the noise down in the basement." (nevermind)

You do realize that trades are always dependent on a physical right? And considering Levi had a triceps injury that ended his season before, you can bet your ass it was looked at very closely.

It was some bad luck, nothing more.

why wouldnt i be serious. Colbert has been pretty good in the past, but lately he has a lot of misses.

there is no way you can say something isnt wrong when they keep bringing in guys that are hurt. its not bad luck its bad scouting.

You're suggesting Levi was hurt before he got here and the Steelers didn't pick up on it?

yes i am. i think they took a chance on a guy and it didnt work. if the guy couldnt get through less than a week of practice and warmups that tells me he wasnt 100% healthy. most guys at this point arent, but when a guy already missed time with that injury and then he re injures it. that seems a bit fishy.

Levi was hurt prior to coming to Pittsburgh he missed the entire year (2012) with the Cardinals after suffering a torn triceps tendon in preason!
I'm not sure of the stats but we have to be leading in signing injury prone players!

I understand he was hurt, but he had a clean bill of health when we got him right? The suggestion was that Colbert didn't practice due diligence and signed an already hurt player which is ridiculous.

there are some people that refuse to see that the Steelers make mistakes. the facts are very clear that their FO has not been very good lately, but still some people will defend them.

Levi was not healthy when they signed him and think thats pretty obvious. then they sign Gordon, yes another TE, and hes already hurt.

i dont buy the arguement either thats theres no one out there available. im pretty sure there are lots of guys that available and i would bet some of them are healthy.

I don't trust doctors and their legalities.. ;) But i do believe players have recurrences from the same injuries as in this case. It was the toss of the dice for Colbert cause he knew Levi was out most of last year for the Cardinals.

Sure Colbert and Tomlin might have had a few "hick-ups" with the likes of Gordon, Brown, Spaeth, and LSH this year ... but just think of how much better they should be come next year when they will have to find replacements for the dozen or so players that we won't have the cap money to re-sign (in addition to the other normal injuries).

I'm sure Colbert and Tomlin are scouring the league's weekly injury report as we speak trying to find our next big signing!

It's difficult to ascertain if the Steelers made fewer mistakes recently then in the past. It might be that this is just a normal transition period for the Steelers. Fans should simply realize that it's difficult to consistently replace top tier NFL talent the Steelers lost over the last few seasons. The system is structured as such that team can manage to stay on top forever.

How do you know that Levi wasn't healthy? Levi had a physical. The medical team that works for the Steelers believed that Levi was healthy. They passed that information onto the Steelers management. The Steelers decided make the trade based on the medical information they received. I believe that Levi had an entire week of practice with the Steelers after the trade was made.

Who and where are the lots of guys that are available?

I'd like to know where you get the idea that Levi was hurt when traded? And not your opinion, facts.
I'm not necessarily defending Colbert he's not without fault with some things. I'm more or less just pointing out how silly your consperacy theory is.

And let's keep in mind that this trade was like the Felix Jones trade, we gave up virtually nothing and it didn't move the needle appreciably with regard to our cap situation. It's not like we gave up too much or overpaid for the guy.

Yeah but, don't we really have the league rule about an injured player must be on the traded to team's active roster for 5 weeks to thank mostly for not owing the Cards any trade compensation (future pick)?? :hmmm:

Also isn't that rule and the fact that Brown wasn't able to meet the 5-week active roster requirement, in essence saying that Brown was still at least afftected by the injury??

I thought the injury was healed and he was playing in Arizona? Do we know for a fact that this injury was a result of the previous injury? Seems like a lot of speculation going around.

Well, here are links that reference the 5-week active roster rule and the fact the Steelers don't owe the Cards anything ...
