Not condoning what Ta-Amu did there, but it looks like Boone did deck him first. Doesn't take a genius to think maybe you shouldn't whack a guy that's standing over you while you're on your back.

 

I still can't understand why we cut this guy. A little nastiness is a good thing for a DT and I thought he had a pretty good preseason. I know he had his issues while he was here, but why would we stick with him through his personal stupidity and then cut him when he's apparently turned the corner personally after he'd had a pretty good camp?

 

Well given our history he and mendenhall will probably be back with the steelers and I honestly have no problem with it.

 

I'm with you. He's a guy we traded up for, and was by most accounts a 2nd round talent. I think McClendon is doing a grear job... but with a "true" nose tackle, I could see McClendon causing all kinds of chaos from DE.

The guy nearly runs down a crowd in the South Side while hammered and you guys think the Steelers should just look the other way.

Obviously he's got some issues with anger management to say the least. It can be good on the field of play when it can be contained and useful. Not on a side walk in downntown or with just bush league garbage after the whistle.

 

Everyone here always wants choir boys. I want guys that will win games.

 

Cannot play with them, cannot win with them, cannot coach with them. Can't do it.

I think McClendon would be more effective as a DE. He's certainly athletic enough. But he's not getting it done as a NT. He had a terrible game against the Jets and has pretty much been a non-factor this year.

But that's just it. The Steelers DID LOOK THE OTHER WAY and then when he's seemingly past his off field issues and seems to be coming around as a legitimate talent ON THE FIELD, they cut him!!

 

I want some nastiness out of my NT!!!
