Good question. Isn't it a conditional pick? What's the condition if the player never plays?

@ScottBrown_ESPN: Steelers may have lost two more to season-ending injuries -- before and during 19-6 win over Jets.

Yes it was a conditional pick. But its never been released as to what the conditions were. Usually its stuff like plays so many games or downs, or is on the team on still at a certain date or stuff like that...so who knows...they may not owe them much if anything now...plus I heard it wasn't from the 2014 draft but the 15 or 16 draft.

But that sucks for him if the season is over...wow. That will really put his future (if he even had one) with the Steelers in jeopardy based on his salary alone (unless he re-does his deal).

And as far as DJ...WOW...he has been looking better and better...and now he gets dealt this? Poor guy

maybe we just owe them a primanti bros. sandwich now. of course, that's pretty steep for what he's cost us.

I agree as far as DJ, we will be missing him. he was blocking the edge like a tackle should. I was impressed with him against the vikes. he may have been one of the better bring back guys this year.

someone made a deal with the devil and its pay back time.

its almost laughable at the injuries this team has had.

to go out and trade for a guy and he gets hurt during warm ups before he ever plays a snap is crazy.

Pretty sure he had to pass the physical. That being said now what. We were not happy with Adams at LT and traded for Brown who is more than likely done as a Steeler before ever playing. Do they go after another LT or do we suck it up with what we have?

The Cards paid 3.160 million of browns salary for this year just to get rid of him, the steelers are on the hook for the remainder of his salary this year for 840K, but there are reports the cards gave up a late round conditional pick to the steelers to make the deal happen, in any case the steelers don't have a lot invested in this lump....As I recall when I read the deal in the news paper here in Arizona, there was mutual conditional picks that depended on how many games brown would play in that triggered the conditional picks, if he didn't play X amount of games the cards owed us a pick, if he played X amount of games the steelers owes the cards a late round pick, but obviously this clown cant get out of warm ups long enough to play so it looks like the steelers didn't do their homework on this guys background...

Probably figured it was worth a shot, worst case scenario, we get a draft pick out of it. I agree with them.

In a sense your right, but doesn't alarm bells go off when a team is willing to pick up 3/4ths of a players salary, and throw in a mutual conditional pick just to get rid of him??
