Yep, Tomlin and Ben together always seem to result in terrible clock management skills. Don't know why they can't see the things that even most fans can see.

Not going to disagree that clock management is an issue, but we just need to blame the right guy.

How is trading Ben make them competitive? It will make them worse in the short term and would be a crap shoot (depending on who you got) regarding the long term.

So because they are sub .500 this year, you forsake the future?

And who is that? I think both Ben and Tomlin are to blame.

the best olineman are usually the ones you dont hear about. you only hear their names ina game if they are stinking up the joint.

as far as the Pats go, for one they have a pretty good running game that helps the passing game and secondly their coaches coach to their players strengths. something the Steelers coaches are incapable of doing.

Bens career completion % is over 63%. thats pretty accurate. if people want to trade Ben to try improve the team than thats fine, but lets not bash a guy and throw things around that arent accurate just to try and make your point. if you have a valid point the true numbers are all we need.

hes 10-4 in the playoffs and 87-43 in the regular season as a starter. this team doesnt suck because of Ben. trade away Ben and youve just became the Jaguars for the next 5 years.

    I disagree.
They're not as bad as everyone thinks. Last two seasons have been marked by wild inconsistencies. Defense stunk early last year while O was good. Then it flipped late. Now the defense is suspect, but it seems the O is coming together these past few weeks...after being the opposite for the first two weeks of the year.

If, if, if... its not that easy. You have a known commodity. He's pretty good. You're thinking one step back then two steps forward next year. I see two steps back this year and one step forward (at best, possible one more back) next year.

Ben has someone in his ear telling him what to do between plays so until I hear he disobeyed orders he gets a pass. End of the day it's on Tomlin plain and simple and if players or other coaches are not doing what he says it's still on him.

All this talk is a waste of time anyway. Bens not getting traded, Tomlin will go before he does at this point.

I did not see the game beyond the beginning of the 3rd Q due to family stuff so I didn't see the last drive. I may be wrong because I don't know the EXACT situation, but how can you criticize him for spiking the ball on a 2 minute drive. Isn't that what you are supposed to do?

LOL. Nate Solder and Logan Mankins. NE's line is one of the best preforming in the league. There's a reason Tom Brady gets so little pressure. It's not a coincidence that both their tackles and Mankins are among the highest graded linemen by ProFootballFocus. Brady and his WR's are having a pretty sub-par start though, if you're paying close attention.

No, but someone was. Evidence of poor clock management. Thats actually pretty typical stuff...unless Im missing something which is entirely possible since I didn't see it.

Yep. I pulled out the stopwatch last night and clocked Bradys time in the pocket. There were the quick hitters where he was throwing the ball in <2seconds. But quite a few went for 3.5 seconds plus before he threw it. IDK what Ben would do with 3.5 seconds in the pocket. That may be just enough time to hook up with another co-ed for him.

we have an oline built for what? this line cant block anyway you want to run the offense. sure we need a mobile qb but not because its the offense we need to run. its because they cant block. period. you don't trade ben. you don't trade anyone. you tell this bunch of overpaid, lazy, intitled players that if they don't start taking pride in their jobs they will be looking for jobs. maybe it was jet lag or something but sunday I saw more players going thru the motions on defense than I have ever seen from a steelers d. don't remember when but Peterson ran the ball to the left and the whole right side of the defense trotted over and he broke a tackle by worilds and gained another 5 yrds. pitiful. I am embarrassed by this teams effort. I now know how the browns fans feel like when I tell them their team quits

The big thing that's not being talked about here is his contract. After this year he will have only 2 years left and the base salaries will be 12.1 mill and 11.6 mill. If Ben was playing well we would be talking about an extension this offseason to lower the hit for the next 2 seasons and give him more guaranteed money total, but he isn't playing well and in my opinion his best years are behind him. Ben has always not been good with taking care of the ball. Even in 2008 when we won the SB he was constantly reminded by the defense to just take care of the ball.

With that being said we only have a few options. (1) Let him play out the final 2 years of his contract and pay him a ton of money thus keeping us cap strapped so we cant improve the talent we have now. (2) Extend him and get some cap relief but commit more to him when its very possible his best years are behind him. (3) Trade him and get what you can for him.

I'm definitely for the 3rd option because I think it gives our team the best chance to win a super bowl. Lets face it, if we keep spending big bucks on Ben, we wont be able to retool the rest of the team and without that we can't get back to the big one. If we trade Ben get picks and use those picks to help retool plus save some money by having a younger QB we can have a chance. The young QB will have to turn into a good one and that isn't a guarantee but that gives us the best chance.

With the top 5 pick we will get this year and picks for Ben plus money saved we could really upgrade the rest of our roster.
