...without a takeaway. Ever. In their history. This is a first.

Previous streaks: three games in 1991 and 2009.

This season so far is like the Steelers worst nightmare. We keep waiting to wake up and realize that it was all just a really bad dream.

This started last year and we did nothing to fix it so I see no reason why it will be fixed anytime soon.

We might go the whole season without a takeaway unless a fumble bounces into our arms.

Can we call this a collapse of historic proportions?

Why? First time we're 0-4 in 45 years. First time EVER that we've gone 4 games without a takeaway. Why is that not historic?

It's not really a collapse when we were never good to begin with. We've sucked for 2 years in a row now. We weren't a good team last year and we're not one this year either. Not sure why anyone thought we have improved upon last year. When real changes are made then maybe we'll improve, but until then we'll continue to suck.

See the penguins/bruins series this spring. THAT was a collapse. This has been a slow slide.

I don't know. I think since the middle of last season we've witnessed the collapse of a great franchise.

Yes, this a collapse of gargantuan proportions without any answer in sight to stop the bleeding unfortunately.

Our collapse began when we lost to GB in the SB. It's been a downward slide since then. We were not a good team in 2011, I don't care what our record was, we were very overrated and it showed when we couldn't beat Tebow

considering Art II is activly running the team, I wouldn't hold my breath on them improving.

Actually, I think it was getting beat by Tim Tebow that started it, but I wont argue with those who saw cracks before that.

I said all through 2011 that we were overrated and I usually got blasted for it. Stats only tell part of the story. Passing the eye test is just as important. We didn't pass the eye test in 2011. If a team doesn't look good or in sync, chances are they aren't going to be a true contender for the SB, regardless of the standings at the end of the regular season.

I agree. I thought the team wasn't nearly as good as that 12-4 record indicated, especially late in the season. But I also thought they were banged up. That said, yes: looking back on it, there were signs (games against Indy and KC) of a downturn.

I tend to agree that this has been a slow decline rather than a sudden collapse.

I also think memory also plays tricks on people around here. Sure, we remember the dominant defense. But the offense has been middling-to-good, punctuated by one or two awe-inspiring plays, for a long, long time now.
