its funny how soon we forget. cowher won one super bowl after a lot of good teams that should have one. he underachieved as much as anyone. don't get me wrong I loved him but he is not any better at getting the most out of his talent. he should have made at least 4 super bowls.

Ok, I can buy that. But back when it was working so well why was it that DL was a defensive GENIUS?? The players were executing then but it was always about how DL was designing these complicated blitz schemes and putting his players in position to make splash (Tomlin cliche) plays. You can't have it both ways!

If they got rid of Tomlin, I wouldn't want Cowher back. Bring in someone hungry. And in case any of you haven't noticed, Cowher and Tomlins career has mirrored one another. Wins, losses and both went into a funk about the same time into their coaching careers.

I'd vote for Ike as being the only one close

Yeah, but Cowher's funk occurred when he had Kordell Stewart as his QB. Tomlin has a legitimate franchise QB and is wasting one of his prime years.

Yeah bring Cowher back so he can choke away AFC championships games at home again when he had the best defense in the NFL every year.

I bet you the same things were being said about Cowher. And Kordell also had a line in front of him, not tho pile of dung that's in front of Ben.

So you would rather have a coach that has a whopping 8-12 record since the start of last season and isn't even close to sniffing an AFCC game?

I will speak for the majority and say that we would rather lose a home AFC championship game with a loaded roster, than having a losing record and not making the playoffs at all.

Did that under Cowher too, 2 losing seasons in a row and 3 straight non playoff years.

To be fair he never had a QB and didn't the patsies get fined for cheating in the AFC game against us? When Bill finally drafted a franchsie QB he led us to the promise land. I thinks it's amazing that he did so well with the QB's he had before Ben.

Cowher never started 0-4. In fact it hasn't been this bad since the sixties.

    "It's clearly the players." 49ers in 2010?
"It's clearly the players." Chiefs in 2012?
"It's clearly the players." Ravens in 2007?
"It's clearly the players." Saints in 2005?
"It's clearly the players." Colts in 2011?

Good thing none of those organizations bought into that crap. If you don't think coaching means something, look at before/after situations for each of those teams. Better yet: check out the Kansas City Chiefs' turnover differential in 2012. Now, under Andy Reid, look at it.

    Nah, coaching doesn't mean squat.

I would bring Cowher back in a heartbeat!! In my opinion,He's a better Coach than Tomlin. It'll never happen. We need to do something drastic for sure.

This is an exaggerated look at Cowher's "ineffectiveness." Only the 1994 AFCCG was a bad home loss. The others? Believe it or not, they were losses to better teams. The 2001 loss was to a marginally better team--they did, after all, go on to beat the Rams. The 1997 Broncos were superior. So were the 2004 Patriots. Not Cowher's fault his wasn't actually the better team, no matter where it was played.

A losing season is a losing season as is missing the playoffs 3 straight years. Neither of those things Tomlin hasn't done by the way.

and most of the people here probably wanted him fired. it's funny just how little changes. it was all the same arguments back then. he inherited Nolls team. he should have been able to win with the defense he had. he couldn't get them to perform. god, it's like stepping in a time machine here.

the answer here is really kind of simple, the team just doesn't have the talent. we have one of, if not the, oldest defense in the league. we have the youngest and most inexperienced line in the league. we have an offensive coordinator who's never enjoyed much success anywhere, was only brought in on the whim of the new and more involved chief executive, and D coordinator who (though brilliant and heading to the hall of fame) is stale and old. this team isn't the chiefs, loaded with talent, #1 picks, and problowler just waiting for a good coach. this is a team that has been largely depleted of talent because of drafting late in every round, and unable to land big free agents because of cap problems from overpaying for talent that should have been let go.

Tomlin's proven he can win, he does have a SB ring. It's the organization that's failed him by not putting the talent on the team he needs, or giving him the latitude to pick his own staff.

You're right. I've finally seen the light. Absolutely NONE of this is on Tomlin. How could I have been so stoopid. Duh! :goofy::goofy::goofy::goofy::goofy::goofy:
