My thoughts exactly!! If Ravens lose, then play Ben.

you know d@mn well Big Ben will be in good shape by mondays game. With the trainers working on it and some pain meds he will be back. Not 100% but he will be back. Its almost a week and half for recovery.

If Ben feels he can go and the medical staff gives him a green light AND there's still a chance to win the division then no doubt in my mind Ben will be under center against the 49ers.

If winning the division is important to them he will be in there. I know 49ers defense is pretty good but how is their pass rush? Because our line did a pretty good job of protecting Ben after he got hurt and Ben did a nice imitation of a pocket passer. Employ a game plan similar to what we used against NE, quick passes, don't let anyone near him. If the run game is working, pound the rock all day :herewego:

They are going to plan on a less mobile Ben and attack the running game forcing him to pass. Ariens falls into the trap. He should be in shotgun all day....

Ok, I see your line of thinking here. I agree with you that prepping Charlie all week wll benefit us far more than playing the wait and see game with Ben.

I just wish they'd employed the pistol earlier this year when Ben was getting killed virtually off the snap.

Since he was cleared by the med staff to come back into the game ,he should be medically cleared to play Monday (Unless there is a set back during the week).

I'm sure Ben will want to play.

So it comes down to if a gimpy Ben is still a better player than a 100% Batch. If yes, then play Ben, if not play Batch.

Gimpy Ben may well be good for one game, but that's no use to us if the o-line gives away so many sacks that he's out for the rest of the season.

Heck, the Texans have a 3rd string rookie QB winning games for them and we have Batch looking lost against the Clowns! I have been saying this for quite some time that the Steelers will win out and the Ravens will lose at least one game and maybe it's this weekend against the Chargers. ESPECIALLY if the Chargers beat the Ravens Sun nite, then Ben better be under center (if seriously ok to be so) and they can institute a three-step drop and quick passes gameplan just like they did against the Cheatriots.......WHY NOT? I guess we will see just how "flexible" our coaching staff is IF Ben can go!

I am 90% confident Ben will start and 60% confident he will make it through the whole game.

Why so much hate for DD? I know Dixon has not been accurate, but I would be ok with him starting on Monday. He was a great runner AND passer at Oregon; I have to believe he has the talent. Think about how much more mobile he is then Ben (injured) or Charlie. We have a good chance of winning with DD, although it would mean more of a running game and at least one poorly thrown ball. :flag:

I don't know, any time I have seen Dixon play he has been far from impressive. I don't hate him, I just don't think he is very good.

Has Dixon been hurt or something? I ask because he was in sweats last Thursday nite when we played the Browns. Hines Ward was a 3rd-string QB, not Dixon. AJ Yates is FAR better than Dixon and no wonder why he is winning games down there in Houston.

Dixon not hurt, most teams only dress 2 QB's on gameday now as rule was changed this year and 3rd QB now counts against your 53 man game day roster.

If they suspend Harrison, and Woodley cannot go, then sit Ben.

Hey, maybe we get lucky and win anyway. But if we have to take a loss to get healthy, so be it.

    Interesting....

I would have said the opposite. If the Ravens lose to the Bolts on Sunday, then start Batch. What is the worst that can happen? If we lose to the 9'ers, then we are still where we were, and Ben gets more rest to finish up against the Lambs and the Stains.

Now if the Ravens win, we have no choice but to start Ben if he is cleared.

These pesky Ravens are really starting to bother me!!! :frustrated:

Hmm ... Winning the division (with HOU and NE winning out) would only give us the 3rd seed but no bye (due to worse conf record than those two teams).
    it would mean that the
wildcard game will be in Pittsburgh.
    divisional game at New England
championship game at Pittsburgh (if Baltimore beats Houston) or at Houston (if Baltimore loses to Houston)

I think the team needs to determine who the starter would be in the playoffs in case Ben misses a game, and then give that man the start (and practice reps) this week against San Fran. Will give us the best chance of winning this week if we don't fiddle around and waste time announcing who our starter is vs. SF. At this point we are essentially in the playoffs, barring a horrendous collapse, but if Ben's injuries worsen our season may as well be written off. We can win games in the reg season with our backups, but not the playoffs.

Every player in the league is just one play away from getting injured. That's the nature of the NFL, teams can't worry about "what if this happens".

If the team feels Ben is able to play effectively, they should play him, if not, then go with Batch.

Ben will be there. If he can play minutes after getting the sprain he sure as hell can play a week later.

Teams routinely lose to inferior opponents. You don't think that St. Louis is better than New Orleans, do you? Moreover, if Ben can get hurt, why can't Flacco, or another important Baltimore player?
