You wouldn't think so but the Giants are going through the exact same thing and they have a franchise QB as well.

I agree w/ you that we have a ton of issues going on that "trump" having a franchise QB. Like that wording because I think it describes exactly what is going on. When you consider, even w/ all the mistakes, our franchise QB is able to keep us in games, down to seconds.

Coaching changes? I note that you didn't specify. Rooneys don't fire head coaches, perhaps down the line somewhere yes.

The ugliness continues. I was at wembley for the game and there is just so much blame to go around its hard to know even where to begin and yet we end up in the familiar position of getting CLOSE to coming back only to have our hearts torn out yet again despite the myriad of mistakes.

The Swiss cheese defense was really exposed today. Once again making Matt Cassel look like a superstar. It would be nice to get a 3 and out on the first defensive series but unfortunately I think it's easy to gameplan against us. Balls don't seem to bounce our way even when we finally make a big play or have the jump on the receiver which would be easy to chalk up to bad luck, but it can't be a matter of luck when it seems to happen so often. The offense putting a big drive together never seems to be a motivator for our defense to rise up. In fact it's been quite the contrary this year

I long for the days when Ben would run the ball when there was 10 yards in front of him instead of making a bad decision throwing. The line of scrimmage is like a wall that he no longer crosses. He still remains our only chance yet from the end zone perspective it's sort of disheartening to see the needles he seems to have to thread to hit our receivers while opposing quarterbacks seem to have a much easier game of pitch and catch (see Cassel's TD pass after Ben threw his latest pick). Only once we get down 17 do we seem to be able to consistently move the ball but at that point we are already painted into a corner of being able to make no more mistakes.....and we always do. Can't say enough about the woeful oline. I guess being hit so often or expecting to get hit impacts decisions. Yet despite that we end up right in the game at the end perhaps thinking things aren't as bad as they really are.

i am not a special teams expert....nor apparently are the coaches that we've had for the last 10 or so years. I know it's supposed to be paramount to stay in your lanes but it looks to me like we have guys flying down the field whether in their lanes or not that never seem to have the intention of making a play. If you stay in your lane but blow right by the ball carrier like a bat out of hell, it no longer matters what lane you're in. We almost went a game without a special teams penalty today but alas it wasn't to be.

I am so tired of horrible clock management. I expected Tomlin to waste a timeout with 2:45 to go and the clock running and when he didn't I almost wanted to stand up and cheer. But given that we were playing from behind.....again....in the first half, I can't understand why they let 12 seconds run off before the Vikings FG attempt....and then getting the ball back with a timeout and 39 seconds having just attained a first down on the ground.....they don't use the timeout and are apparently happy to go in down 10. Granted the odds may not be great and something bad could happen, but good teams don't play scared in that position....which probably explains why WE do. In the first game of the season, Tomlin called a timeout with 2:01 in the fourth quarter.....WHEN HIS TEAM WAS ON OFFENSE INSIDE THE 10. That is just brain-dead. I also don't understand why we feel compelled to spike the ball and waste a down when we do. Like when there is MORE than a minute in the game and we are inside the opponents 30 yard line. Again, good teams would probably choose not to waste a down until the situation gets dire....which again probably explains why we do it.

its sort of a numb feeling now. It's hard to expect bad things when you watch the Steelers play, but here we are. With the staff we have, it's hard to imagine the catalyst that will turn things around anytime soon.

1970 for me. I have no idea how to handle this. To be honest, took my parents out to lunch for their 50th anniversary. I havent watched a single second of the game and I deleted it off my DVR.

I completely agree on the time management bit. When it was 3rd down just before the last field goal, I said that they should either throw into the endzone or throw it away. As it turned out, they gained 1 yard and wasted 35 seconds kicking the field goal. Throw that pass away, kick the field goal, and then perhaps on the last drive they don't feel the need to waste a down.

all I know is that if you told me we score 27, I say we win. I have been frustrated with the defenses lack of turnovers but I have really been frustrated with the offense. today I believe the defense let us down

When we deferred, i knew it was going to be long day.

Our d can't stop anybody. they can't score points.

So why not give the offensive the ball first when you have a chance.

You're better off. They made it close just to rip our hearts out at the last possible second.

Congrats to your parents by the way

Yeah, for the first time, I can blame the defense.
Not exclusivley, but... they were`nt what i am used to...
    They did a lot right...
But STILL can`t ghet a turnover to save their lives, if they strip-sack the qb, or Stone Hands Ike gets in front of the ball, or whatever...
Let Peteerson gash em for a td... whatever...
The WORST part, to me, about today`s loss, besides being 0 and 4, is...
For the first time all year, I really think we gave it all we had.
Everybody gave good effort, lots of determination, and "will to win"...
But we just flat out got beat by another team that hadn`t won all year, but outplayed us, nonetheless...
I`ve said it befor, and, I`lll say it again, I admit when we just get BEAT... not that we GIVE the other team, the game.
Today we got BEAT, even tho we gave our best effort...
I think ONE turnover made the difference in the game, but when our best effort isn`t good enuff to beat a winless team...
We are in for a loooonnnggg few seasons...
Just hope the players don`t give up!
Hard to keep fighting, when it`s obvious u have nothing to play for...
But, I will keep rooting for them.... If they keep giving their best, they are bound to win a few.. if not... I don`t even wanna think about seeing the players in the Black and Gold "Give Up'!!!:herewego::herewego!:

the defense is not good. the offense takes a lot of heat and rightfully so, but this defense doesnt make things happen. the offense scores and defense gives it right back. they need to come up with a big stop and sometimes they do, but they let the other team get a lot of yardage and then they usually pin the offense back deep. whens the last time the offense started with a short field because the defense made a play?

why the heck is Moye not in the game in the redzone? why is this such a fickin struggle for the coaches to figure out? are they they stupid? why are the dbs constantly playing 12 yards off the wrs? why cant they figure out how to get to the qb? why do they keep pushing the same group of olineman out there every week? why dont the coaches make changes?

this team is 0-4 and even though the AFC North is down this year, i dont see how this team can turn it around unless the coaches make some changes and if they arent willing to make changes than the Rooneys need to make some.

Nothing to play for? They are 2 games out of first place, I guarantee you the players aren't thinking like you are.

Today, when they forced the Vikes to punt, and we had the ball at our 45 yardline, and promptly went 3 and out, comes to mind...
But, other than that, I get your point...
My poin bein... even when we get good field position, we struggle to move the ball/get all the way in the endzone...
Today, we actually moved the ball, byut it took a LOT of cretivity(wide receiver screns, end-arounds, etc, to do it)...
And we actually DID punch the ball in from the goal line, like we should, ONCE....

im sure the team hasnt given up, but if the coaches dont start making some changes this season will be over before its 1/3 of the way played.

it was nice to see Wheaton get more playing time, but the game seems a bit fast for him right now. i would like to see Moye get a chance like Wheaton got today.

I don't kno how true this is, but i just read Tomlin said " Those who are unable to change and win games will not be apart of this football team" if this is true he should take a long look in the mirror

Thanks, for the "rah-rah", "pat on the back" type thinking....
I have NEVER felt this negative about our team, even thru the mid 80`s...
I just didn`t expect much, then.
I don`t "assert" that they have nothing to play for...
I am just worried, that it is hard for them to find inspiration to keep playing well, when they have an 0 and 4 record heading into the bye.
They are all professionals, and should try to play well, just to try to generate a bigger paycheck, for themselves, in the future,...
But, it has to be really difficult, to preach to the team, that "we still have a realistic chance at the Lombardi, if we just pull our heads out of our asses", when we are 0-4, compared to 2-2, or even 1-3...
We just gave the best effort I have seen all year, and, LOST to an 0-3 team...
Hard, for players NOT to be discouraged, at this point.
Just the reality, of our situation...
    GO STEELERS!!!:herewego!:

This is fan speak, as athletes I bet you everyone in that room thinks they are better then their record and with only being 2 games back, probably feel they have a very good chance of winning the division if they "just pull their heads out of their asses" as you so eloquently put it.

Me, I am encouraged by the effort they put forth today, I just hope they can continue to fight that hard after the bye week.( While realizing that it is highly unlikeley they even get in the playoffs, this year... Gotta keep swinging!)

The Defense is dated. All teams need to do is watch tape and put in some prep time and they know how to beat our defense. It's sad but it's true. People can go on and on about how "we don't give up a lot of yards", "we bend but don't break", etc. but teams know how to beat us and we refuse to adapt.

LeBeau will retire at the end of this year I believe as he will realize the offensive nature of the NFL has passed him by. I don't think Butler is the answer as he knows nothing other than LeBeau's scheme. Something needs to change. Say what you want about about players needing to make plays and all that...but 4 games with minimal pressure, minimal sacks and 0 turnovers becomes something that you can't make excuses for anymore.

There's enough blame to go around everywhere...but at some point, the defense needs to make plays if we are going to even be a mediocre team

They have to put up with it. Who can they get? What coach is out there that's gonna come and coach us that could be the next Bill Cowher or Chuck Noll that you're gonna find 4 games in to the season. We're horrible this year and that's going to continue. We are stuck with this staff and we are stuck with this personnel. We are flawed fundamentally on defense. We have no chemistry on offense. We have no line in front of our $100 million qb. We have no push on our d line. We are bad. We play 5 yards off the receivers. We have no presence in the middle of the field and it's always wide open. We have backs that can't catch or tackle. The Browns are lightyears ahead of us. Seriously. THAT'S how bad we are. Anybody that thinks this is a TRUE old school DL defense is smoking crack, meth, Virginia Slims, and whatever else you can smoke. I hate watching this defense. They are cringeworthy. Our offense is even worse.

Wow, this was well written and one can tell you were there to witness it all by the way you described it. I have to admit, this one needs to be filed in our "The Truth Hurts" category.
