So if a RB grabs the facemask of a defender because he is trying to gain yards, is that ok? Nope.

Not that I agree with the new rules but they are what they are and Dwyer broke one. No surprise he was fined just like a defensive player would have been.

More pocket cash for the POS Goodell. Keep powder puffing the game and the real fan will get tired. I know I am and I have plenty of friends who feel the same way. But hey, you still will have the fantasy football crowd to fall back on. Until that wears itself thin.
Mo Money, Mo Money, Mo Money. But the quality of the game has suffered by this @ss clown. It's only to get worse. Gotta love those kick offs! Gotta love the paranoia that's been created. It's a violent game. Put flags on and a skirt on the QB.

Who doesn't love a crushing hit? I do. It's the game!

Did Dwyer grab the facemask of defender?

No he didn't and I never said he did. Just making a point. SF said that Dwyer was trying to gain yards and did what he needed to do so I compared a RB grabbing a facemask to gain yards.

Fine money goes to charity, not in Goodell's pocket.

I never understand the outrage when a player gets either flagged or fined for violating a rule. The rule is clear as day, you cannot lead with the crown of the helmet when outside the tackle box. The league is trying to protect the necks and spines of players. Lowering your head and leading with your helmet does not protect your neck. This has nothing to do with helmet to helmet. It wouldn't matter if Dwyer hit the defensive player in the knee, it has to do with Dwyer leading with the crown of his helmet.

It's no different than seatbelt laws. The players are being protected from themselves. Players won't get fined if they follow the rules.

People are getting pissed because the rules are ridiculous. It's not football anymore, it's headed towards flag football. Player safety yeah, yeah, yeah... this is nothing to do with safety and everything to do with protecting the big names that generate money, and defending the league against ridiculous lawsuits. These guys get paid more money than most of us can even dream of, but heaven for bid they plan ahead to take care of their medical needs that might result from earning that money.

AP, the guy we faced today will put his head down and run you over. He should be seeing a lot of fines.

Putting the head down has been taught for decades for that very reason, protecting the neck. Players do it because they've been taught it from Pop Warner on up.
Chin on chest/Eyes on hips. They've changed but It will take time.

They're trying to cut down on head injuries, helmet to helmet. Sometimes legislation is good willed but makes matters worse. I wonder if the number of devastating lower limb injuries have increased and there impact on a players career?
