At this point take the helmets off the players. Under the new rules it probably deserved a flag but this garbage of fining players after the game when it is not called a penalty on the field is ridiculous. Can't stand the new kinder, gentler NFL that Roger has put in place. Soon enough the NFL will be not much different than Arena Football.

Wow that sucks! After he pays taxes and his agent that's probably like 10% of his pay. They should at least have a warning for the first offense especially for something like this.

The players really should have addressed this in their new CBA.

Ridiculous. Just put flags on them already. The only good news is that fines go to charity thus I believe they are tax deductible. Dwyer is handling it better that I would.

As all things Godell I am thinking I will stop watching. What a perfect time to stop watching NFL all together since its become so wussified and our boys are basically slipping off the radar. No guts no glory is how I see it

Maybe its a good sign the NFL is trying to bring the game to the european market and the Steelers are in London now ..

The way things are going it will be a game of putting the ball on the ground and kick it around

stupid...dont see an intent to hit with his helmet but his shoulder...it shouldnt have been flagged and luckily it wasnt. all these fines and stupid rules are dumb as we all know...

ugh...i blame obviously goodell and well a number of former players all the lawsuits/etc didnt help things one bit....but oh well...

I wonder if the NCAA has some of these same rules or what?!

They need to get rid of that helmet bull chit and they need to put it back in to practice. Go back to two a days in camp

One of the announcers mentioned it when it happened saying if that wasn't illegal, they didn't know what was. I'm actually glad they are fining the offensive players since they have been so hard on defensive players.

A RB about to get pummeled does what he has been taught since Pee Wee league.
Lower your head! That way you protect your neck. Sheeesh
He does not have his hands/arms/forearms to buffer and protect they do.

    Did Cutler get fined?

You know, I think they should go and fine every player before the season starts and be done with it. The "charities" would make money and the players could, finally, go out and just play. I really think I'm on to something here. Heck, even Goodell could brag about being a disciplinarian and the Union could brag about enforcing player safety. Food for thought!

The Steelers led by Ryan Clark tried to convince the rest of the league to have an independent review on these things.

Without re-watching the play, I believe Cutler led with his shoulder.

That is simply rediculous!!!!!!... every time I see that highlight, I still fail to see the helmet to helmet contact.... all I see is a big shoulder pad plowing into a helpless defender.. dwyer should really appeal this fine.

This fine is ridiculous, when will Roger allow running backs to slide and not be hit or it will be a fine just like the QB's.

What was Dwyer to do on this play stop and let the tackler cream him. He was trying to gain yards and did what he needed to do on this play.
