I remember one preseason where the Steelers looked good and then they were good in the regular season too...

It shouldnt matter....but I think the Steelers still think its preseason...they still don't know who their starting tackles are or have a starting RB.

The pre-season record doesn't matter. The pre-season performance does, and this year the performance was reflected in the record, which has continued to manifest itself well into the season now.

exactly. the fact that they went 0-4 wasnt really the concern. it was how they looked going 0-4. they showed no signs of having the ability on offense to score points and the defense didnt really show the ability to make big plays.

now its 3 games into the regular season and they are 0-3 and look every bit as bad as their 0-4 preseason record showed.

The preseason was a harbinger of things to come. Our first team was outplayed by the other team's first team and our backups were outplayed by the other team's backups. But it was only the preseason.

... and no need to play Redman, we already knew what he was capable of.

Yeah, never quite got that one. Probably one of the dumbest things I have heard a coach say in a long time - unless he was referring to how bad he is?

    :this!:

0-4 preseason teams have won the superbowl before. If your putting stock into the preseason you have no business in the market.

i dont think its that they went 0-4 in the preseason. its how they looked going 0-4 and more importantly how they finished last season. they looked terrible to end last year and it would have been nice to see them play with some intensity and inspiration during the preseason and they didnt.

Last season they didn't play with intensity or inspiration either.

It was feasible though that they would have shown up week one regardless of how that preseason went execution wise.

We still haven't really shown up yet, and when we do it'll be too late.

This was exactly what I was talking about earlier during the preseason. The starters didn't play well at all and should of got more time together. But everyone was afraid of getting hurt or that they can turn it on when it counts or it doesn't matter that they lost the games. When you except losing it bleeds over.

Agree 100%...we went through same thing last year. We had no clue who our starting RB was going into week 16 when all 4 fumbled. Its like a 20 weeks of pre-season with this team....constantly rotating trying to figure out who fits where.

They really messed up cutting Dwyer. At of all the runningbacks we have he is the best pass blocker we have. I know that is not saying much, but no one is picking up these blitzers up the middle, that is the job of the RB's.

Statistically, Felix Jones is the best, followed by Redman, then Dwyer. Not by a big margin or anything.

No team has done it in a 16 game season. Also, the only team to do it was the Redskins in the strike shortened season. They went 8-1 and won the Super Bowl.

The question we should be asking is how fares teams that go 0-4 then start 0-3?

That's where I'm at too... this didn't start in preseason, so preseason wasn't the harbringer of the season to come. Lots of the issues are the same one we saw last year, but regardless of all the technical issues with the play, I am SO tired of seeing no fire in the belly on anyone's part. It's not hard to support a team you love when they have a bad season, but it gets significantly more challenging to support a team when they don't seem to care that it's happening or have interest in shaking it up (don't read that as me not loving my Stillers, though!).

I don't know if you noticed, but V. Williams seems to have some attitude. I think this is severely missing on the D side of the ball. The D needs a loudmouth who is going to fire the other guys up and Williams seems to be trying to do that. I don't see anyone else on the D being that guy. Maybe V. Williams can light a spark. Someone needs to.
