on steelers.com , they had labriola and pursuto (sp?) talking about beachum and the coaches being on the verge of replacing adams or gilbert with beachum still, if the play of these two still struggle.

does anyone think they actually do this? will it come this week or will they wait? I've said this for a long time now, but do you think the staff really will?

I think they will let it play out this week unless one of them really gets overwhelmed and stinks up the joint.
But I think they survive this week.

But they need to keep an eye on DeCastro. He is getting pushed back way to easy for someone who did 32 reps of 225 at the combine. He seems like he it getting overwhelmed after getting Pouncey hurt.

I think we'll stick with what we have for now. I actually thought that there was improvement but it's not hard to improve on worthless. I think there were some holes in the running game too. Most of the issues I've seen are mental mistakes where they fail to pass off a pass rusher or flat out block the wrong guy in the run game. These mental errors make them look bad physically IMO. It sickens me to watch Redman and company run up the backs of our lineman, hopefully Bell brings some much needed talent and vision to the group. I'm gonna get torched for this.. Defend the O-line?!? LOL

Can't torch a guy that is saying it like it is. They will get better each week, we just need to win some to stay in it until they gel.

Speaking of getting pushed back easily, have you been eyeing Adams? He got shoved into Ben multiple times in pass protection last week. He just looks weak.

he's not alone. most of them are getting pushed back. some of this may come from them teaching more of the zone. head up to look for LB'ers and who breaks off to take him. they are playing high. i still don't think they are matched up well or athletic enough. nor strong enough yet. fernando has helped seal up the middle though and he is aggresive. much needed. if he's helping teach these guys week two of that should help. here's hoping.

I hear what you're saying, but isn't it kind of sad that here in week three of the season the greatest hope for our offensive line, which is full of first and second round draft picks, is an undrafted free agent that was cut by the Titans in preseason?

Not just that but these guys just have no idea who they are supposed to be blocking. I was just watching a break down of the Cincy game and lineman are letting guys run right by them, Paulson too, I actually blamed Gilbert for it last week but just saw that it was Paulson who was supposed to pick him up. I don't know if Bicknell is making it too complicated or our guys just aren't very smart but they look very confused out there.

Our Oline has looked confused for 5+ years now. That is the biggest reason I want coaching changes. There's simply no way that Decastro, Adams, Pouncey and Gilbert are all busts, but they've been playing like it (except for Pouncey's rookie year, but last year he wasn't that good). It's gotta be the way they are being coached. Decastro was supposed to be a stud, and guys like that don't normally need 3 years in the NFL to adjust to the game. Rookie lineman should be able to step in right away and play well. Our coaches are doing something wrong.

I think you're right and it starts with the Head Coach. The HC has to be like a maestro directing a symphony orchestra. He has to be able to bring all of the pieces together in harmony with each other in order to make beautiful music. He plays none of the instruments but he is THE GUY when it comes to the success of the orchestra. Without him, all of the musicians would be out of step, out of tune, out of rhythm and ultimately out of luck. Sound familiar?

They haven't looked this bad the last 5 years. And keep in mind, I think this is the 3rd line coach they have had in those 5 years, not to mention they don't ever play with the same 5 guys for very long, they are always juggling pieces.

We've looked this bad in the past. The reason we think things are so much worse this time around is because we're losing and we look awful in the process. I obviously can't say for certain, but put Decastro or Adams on Washington or NE and I bet they look like studs. We have never had a good Oline since Tomlin took over this team, yet under Cowher our Oline always seemed to be one of our strengths. Tomlin has had 5+ years to fix this thing now. Injuries are not an excuse. Other teams also have injuries every year. The Bucaneers lost 3 of their starting lineman last year yet Doug Martin put up a ton of yards. Part of that is because Martin is so good, but a big part of it is the lineman they did have performed well, even though 3 of them were backups. That's coaching!.

No doubt. you can add Gilbert to the list of looking weak.
