I visited the Bears message board to see how their fans felt approaching the Steelers game. In their pickem thread not one post picked the Steelers, but most scores were with in a TD and a lower scoring game. The Bears fans seem to be very knowledgeable and realistic. I am including a couple of post below as their fans seem to point out a lot of the same things we have discussed on this board.

    Post 1
Steelers : they have fallen on hard times ... can't really say I am sad about this ... their offense is simply terrible, and their offensive line will leak like a sieve ... but that is not necessarily the end of the play as Roethlisberger is a beast to bring down ... he gets many big plays because the opponent secondary relaxes when he looks like he is about to be sacked ... next thing they know, they are chasing a receiver with the ball ... I really don't think this Steelers offense can score more than a couple of TD's against the Bears unless the Bears help them out ... their defense is still lethal and will pounce on any Bears errors ... Polamalu is back healthy and always a danger in multiple ways

Bears : a good game to get back to fundamentals ... clean up the errors from the first 2 weeks ... it is important they establish an ability to run or pass to keep the Steelers from going blitz crazy ... doesn't matter how they do it, run first or pass first ... patience and balance ... limiting turnovers is always a goal, but this week is especially important as I don't think the Steelers have a chance without getting a couple ... the Bears defense needs to be in control when they rush ... blasting through and just hitting Roethlisberger will do nothing ... better have a good graps of proper tackling, as they need to wrap him up, not let him bounce off and launch one deep

Prediction : even though the Steelers are desperate for a win and at home, I can say with confidence the Bears actually have the better team in pretty much all areas ... it is important they play like it ... I think they will

I agree with you guys that the Bears are the better team, but Pittsburgh is a wounded animal right now, this is a dangerous game. The Bears have shown to have some issues with consistency and that's exactly what a strong defensive team up against the wall can take advantage of (we should know, the Bears have historically been that strong defensive team).

On paper Bears have them. I'd say TE's are the way to beat the Bears D and Pitt is lacking a solid TE (Miller is only a threat when he's 100% and hardly then now), they have no receiver depth, rb's are crap, o-line is done. Bears O can keep their D on their heels if they get the lead early and Cutty doesn't throw late across the middle again (hopefully Tresty whispered something about that!).

It's a trap of a game for sure and because of that, I doubt it's gonna be the blow out game where the Bears put their thing down and claim a spot at the top of the pile for good. I think it's going to be a little closer than that but maybe a healthy step forward is to just have a healthy margin going into the last 5 minutes of the game instead of the last 5 seconds!

The line showed improvement and played better last week, I have no reason to believe it won't continue to improve and play better this week, the line is the key. Wheaton is expected to play more this week, Heath is expected back, couple more offensive weapons that Chicago will have to account for. Our D hasn't allowed a 100 yard rushing performance yet, Green-Ellis ran for 75 and Johnson ran for 70, I think they will contain Forte and Ike handled Green, he should be able to take Marshall out of the game too. I think we have a good chance to win. We need another strong ST effort though, Hester can sink us.

The thing I fear isn't Forte running for 100 yards, it is having a line like 15 carries for 60 yards and 6-7 catches for another 60-70 yards.

Bingo. Forte is a ridiculously talented receiver. He could get 100+ yards receiving if we don't watch him closely. Ike matches up well against Green, but he's struggled against bigger receivers like Marshall and Britt. They can outmuscle Ike whereas Green can't.

Timmons hasn't been playing up to his potential for over a year now. I also thought he was going to call the defensive plays after Foote got hurt. But did I here right that last week one of the other rookie linebackers was calling the plays?

if that is the case, then I wonder how bright Timmons really is.
