if heath miller plays sunday night , he will have more field time then cortez allen this year. we miss them both in a big way. how important do you think this becomes to us as they get back to the field, even if we would lose another game or two, are they enough to put us in contention at that time?

At this point I would say if they are not 100 percent don't rush them back. Both players should be valuable next year and I don't want to rush them back due to our current situation.

Next year? Schnikees, we're 2 games into this season and we should give up on it??? The absolute latest they should wait is after the bye but if they are cleared to play now, I see no reason to hold them out.

I think having Miller dressed for the game even in limited capacity will do wonders for Ben. Heath is the player he has absolute faith in.

I think Heath is instrumental to our offense but if he is not 100% there is no point in rushing him back. CA is probably going to end up being a problem for this organization.

Bottom line. We need Heath back as fast as possible but CA not so much.

I didn't mean to wait to have them play until next year, I don't want to have Heath coming back to early and jeopardizing his knee to further injury putting him in the same position next year. Same for Cortez

I mentioned this in another thread, but I'm really starting to get concerned about Allen as one of those guys who just can't stay healthy. Allen's rookie season ended when he dislocated his arm, his second season he missed significant time with various injuries, he hurt his knee in the preseason this year missing significant time and even had surgery on the knee and now he has an ankle injury which is requiring him to miss significant time. He's a tremendous talent and has all the skill necessary to be a top flite corner, but the guy can't seem to stay healthy. I realize injuries are part of the game, but it's like some guys' bones, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints are just genetically engineered to take the pounding of being an NFL player and some guys' aren't. At this point, it looks like Allen is in the latter category. He's absolutely WORTHLESS to us if he can't keep his butt on the field!

With Miller's size and with the defenders aiming so low on tackles now.. I believe his knee better be 100% healed to withstand the hits coming.

We should all just remember what Tomlin said about Heath when he said that he's not gonna be ready to be a true impact player yet because there's still a lot of rust and cobwebs to shake off. So even though Heath will be out there it won't be like "Heeeeeath" being out there. I'm just saying this as a way to try and keep people from acting like Heath has "lost it" or becoming really pessimistic towards him and I think Tomlin was saying it for that reason too. I can't wait to watch him play though definitely and just having him there will help Ben a lot and will probably help out in the run game as well. But one question I have is since he's been hurt all offseason will he even know how to work in the zbs or is that strictly a protection for the offensive linemen?

At the very least he should be able to sustain a block and let someone get the edge unlike Paulson.

My biggest fear is that he takes a hit to that knee by the ball carrier or another random player, while he's holding that block.

I guess what I meant was , are these two guys the missing link for us to win? will they strengthen the offense enough and the defense enough for us to be a contender? assuming they stay healthy when back.

I was wondering the same thing. He is a talented kid but if you can't get on the team you are not worth it. It looks like we will be looking at corner in the draft.

I think you're onto something. These two could definitely give the team the boost they need.

Amen to that brother, with the anemic line he will do most of his work blocking. There may be some sideline passes to him but I doubt he will be in the seam where he does the most damage due to his condition.

So I guess DeCastro has supplanted Gilbert as the Steelers player "most likely to injure his own teammate". LOL!
