Why don't they use more shotgun formation on passing downs when the O-line is struggling, to give Ben more time to throw.

    Blocking issues?
Or why not more "hurry up"?
Seems to me, we do better that way...

With a struggling O-line wouldn't make more sense to have some quick hitting pass plays (quick slant) to get the defense loosened up?

Bc that would give Ben the option to get out of the pocket and Haley wants him to stay there.

Dont know, maybe Ben doesnt like it, maybe like said he sucks from it. Havent really thought about it.

Whether its shot gun or under the center, the answer lies in the players making plays. Blockers need to block, runners need to run, Ben need to throw, and receivers need to catch.

Moving the ball and putting points on the board will come once they start doing that. Seems obvious, but execution of the plays is what we are lacking.

It seems like it doesn't matter. The rush gets there about the same time. The shotgun was design to give the qb more time but not with our oline.

With how fast the defense gets into the backfield, they have a chance to pick off a shotgun snap.

Seems simple enough. The question is when will the players and coaches realize it? When will we start to see it?

It is all part of Haley's plan to keep Ben safe. Since our line can't block that would give the defenders more momentum running further before they sack Ben.

That would be ideal if Ben had confidence in anyone not named Miller to catch those quick slants. I haven't seen him have that kind of chemistry and confidence in a WR since HInes and I know it cost them last sunday. THe first sack he took was a quick slant where Sanders(I believe) had a step on his man on the slant and Ben pump faked pulled it down and was sacked shortly after. When the called play is a quick slant from a three step drop you have to trust your receiver to make a play. You throw it out in front of him and you trust them to do what they have trained to do, maybe it is a completion maybe the DB makes a heck of a play but he has to make that throw and he just doesn't.

You can also look at the play where Brown comes back across the field as BEn scrambles out of the pocket that had the announcers and the fans ohhhing and ahhhhing that the old Ben is back. That play while being a good results showed that Ben had some happy feet. The pocket was good and had he stayed in and delivered the pass who knows what the result would be. Not saying that Bens instincts are wrong and scrambling out of the pocket was a bad idea it just becomes self defeating for the Oline to do their job and block the defender and then see Ben run right past them and have no one between him and the guy you just blocked outside with no way you can get yourself between the two again before Ben takes a hit. At some point he will have to have some trust again, I know very little to trust in at this point but still.

    Too right.

And, as I've said many times before, the pistol formation did us well when Ben was injured a few seasons back.

If we need time, more shotgun, more pistol... anything.
