Is Redman in Tomlin's doghouse for fumbling twice or does Dwyer get the start.

I think they start Jones to be honest he is the last back they have that can cut back quickly and make use of outside zone blocking. Dwyer will still be like Redman a plodder so unless they plan to straight up power run block neither of them would be effective. You can bet your last two dollars Zimmer has broken down what The Titans were doing and you will see alot of five man fronts with the outside LB blitzing and the safety up in run support. So unless the Steelers go Dbl TE or four wide with single back to force them into nickel or dime coverages it will be a long night.

I'm thinking there was a conversation like this:

    Tomlin: Hi, Jonathan, it's Mike.
Dwyer: No, I won't come back. I told you that you'd regret it, and now you are, and I'm not coming back, not ever, not ever.
Tomlin: You can be the starter...
    Dwyer: Ok, I'll come back.
Tomlin: Great! You can be the starter *mutters inaudibly: until you fumble*
    Dwyer: What was that?
    Tomlin: Nothing. Welcome back!

Redman will get the start, only 1 fumble was Redman's fault even though it was his on player that hit him from behind....Its kind of hard to expect that ,but ball security is ball security.

Redman don't even make most NFL rosters, he's not the answer. Dwyer, Jones or Bell if healthy.

I hope its not Bell for the futures sake,no need to get your Franchise RB broke up behind this sorry OL, plus Redman picked up the blitz fairly well last game and had the passes been on target he would have contributed nicely in the passing game.

I think Redman will start but is on a very short leash. It will be RB-by-committee.

I would let Felix Jones start. Give him a good week of practice and let it fly. We don't know what type of shape Dwyer is in and Redman just suck so bad the other day I'm not sure about him. Maybe it was just rust. But I would start Jones.

After the 2 fumbles last week i'm sure Tomlin called Dwyer from the sideline using speed dial. Wonder if Dwyer requested a change in depth prior to his return. Seriously i think Red starts the series and goes from there..Dwyer in at some point maybe after a Redman fumble!

Redman stinks but he'll probably start anyway. Tomlin loves the guy for some reason.

Yeah it's kind of hard to anticipate the great David Johnson getting tossed like a rag-doll and kicking the ball out of your arms from behind.

They are one and the same, except Red blocks better and catches better. Apparently Dwyer isn't fit for anyone else's roster either, spent a week on the market and no takers and there are teams that needed a RB.

Come to think of it whenever DJ is around you just expect a fumble.

I have to agree here. Redman and Dwyer are essentially the same kind of back. Jones offers much better vision, decision-making and elusiveness, which I would think are all things high on Todd Haley's list. Now, don't get me wrong, if Bell can cover both the "physical-downhill" presence as well as the "shifty, elusive" back role, then we got the value we hoped for in the draft. Let's be honest, that's what set Bettis apart from his peers... the fact that he was stout and elusive is a pretty rare combination, and is always coveted.

I guess I'm just tired of seeing the focus on what I would term as "very conservative-new age concepts by Haley". By that, I mean the idea that he is trying to incorporate some of the modern passing schemes with a balance of misdirection and slightly modified run schemes. I really do like the zone blocking scheme focus, but we need a back who can take advantage of that. I think Felix is a better fit, given the improvements the offense needs to make.

As usual, this is just my frustrated opinion, but it makes sense when I review the games. Bell is the best option, because when we need to confuse the defenses we face, they will not be sure if he's part of a passing or running attack. But, when we put in Redman or Dwyer, the D can feel pretty confident making adjustments on short down plays.

Even on 3rd and long, Redman and Dwyer aren't a threat. This is why we've enjoyed so much success with our "crossover" backs... much like vehicles, lol.

In any case, if the offense is going to scare anyone, they won't be doing it with Redman or Dwyer, unless it's short and goal. Give a hungry back a chance instead of limiting the offense by scheme. It's clear our conservative plans won't get us very far this year.... Haley better figure this out quick.

Shouldn't that be on the coach to tell him when to go in?

I say get rid of both Redman and Dwyer and flip a coin on who starts,we'll do just as good or better

waste of roster spots, waste of time and A waste of threads on this board
