I believe this is the season of accountability from the Rooney’s from what I have seen over the last few seasons for the reasons listed below.
    - Rooney’s have stated they want to see a return to the running game for the last 2 years which hasn’t happened.
    - We have had many players cut or leave for free agency andreplacing these players hasn’t improved the team. It will be interesting to see this year how some of the players that left perform in a new organization.
    - Bruce Arians leaving hasn’t improved the offense and I think this was a Tomlin or Ben influenced decision
    - The losses over the past few seasons to subpar teams
    - We haven’t lost a home opener in 11 years at home and today we played uninspired football
    - Tomlin has been in the organization for 7 years and putting his system in place
    - Drafting over the past few years and the trading of our 3[SUP]rd[/SUP]round pick next year
    - Salary Cap management and robbing Peter to pay Paul may have got us in trouble

I think this will be a long season for us fans and may lead to drastic changes next year. I think in the off season everything will be on the table for this team to replacing the coaching staff to trading Ben. I hope I am wrong but I feel we are at the point of rebuilding versus retooling.

Go Steelers...................... Fix what is broken

Yeah I'm with you Bob. Ben at LEAST wanted BA there and I'm not for sure that Tomlin didn't feel the same.

We are also still trying to fix the running game. Wilson? Or does what you said have any bearing on what I said Mac?

I through out the BA leaving decision as a Ben or Tomlin decision as it happened and Ben said the right things in the press but if you have a 100 million dollar QB the Rooney's would have talked to him at length before firing or the BA retirement as it was announced. The whole BA retiring and accepting a new position in a few weeks was crazy. Maybe this should have been our first clue there were issue's in the organization.

If we continue down this road, I'm sure someone will be replaced. Probably Haley, possibly Tomlin, perhaps even both. Something will have to change though. I'm just not convinced anything will change with Tomlin manning the team. I think he's the biggest problem

Absolutely not. Point in fact, they didn't even talk to Ben, the whole hiring of Haley was to bring in someone that wouldn't be buddies with Ben. Tomlin didn't want it either, he publicly anounced BA was his guy and then Art came in and undermined his HC by firing BA, oh, excuse me, retired.

I would be REALLY shocked if Tomlin got sent ANYWHERE before his contract is up. Haley wouldn't surprise me so much BUT if the Rooney's were behind that hire then I say he stays too.

Tomlin has been here a while now, his tenure has been long enough that it's not a given he couldn't be fired. I doubt it happens though.

I think Haley can be fired at the drop of the hat though and in fact, bet he would be if this season continues to unfold like it did today. Steelers have a track record of doing poorly when they hire OC's out of the organization, another poor season by the offense may be the end of Haley.

Then maybe we have a Rooney heir that doesn't understand football if what you stated is accurate. If I was Tomlin I would have held my ground and let Rooney know it was BS as by this time he had taken them to 2 Super Bowls. Since Rooney hired Tomlin as a head coach he owes him the respect to determine his coaches.

That's the problem though, there's clearly a huge disconnect between upper management and the coaching staff. They obviously don't trust Tomlin to do the right thing, which makes me wonder why they haven't just fired him yet. Why continue to employ someone you don't trust? plus I have to wonder what the relationship is like between Tomlin and Haley. Seems like there could be a lot of animosity there, and even if they are professionals and suck it up, it's still tough to work with someone you didn't hire, don't want and probably don't like.

We have problems on and off the field.

BA was let go for two reasons the first being that he was too buddy with Ben the next was all business. The Steelers are in a small market and need all the extra revenue they can get. THey need to host playoff games. Under BA the last few years he was here they had shots as secure not only a share of the division title and thus hosting at least one game but also getting near the top seed. In his last season the relationship of Ben and Bruce could be traced to Ben making the start in the SF game when he could barely move and basically got killed throughout the game. If your OC isn't going to say we need to pull him Coach Tomlin he can't move enough to be effective than no one will. BA was shown the door because of money and the friendship. Is Todd Haley the answer? Maybe not but they will not make business decisions based on the OC and QB's friendship anymore.

IF the OL doesn't work the running game doesn't work. It's really that simple. It doesn't have jack to do with Wilson or any other rb coach in the world.

This is where Tomlin needs to have balls and make a coaching decisions. He is the head coach and needs to adjust during the game to what he sees. If replacing Ben in a game where he can't move needs to happen then he should make it happen. I can't believe hosting a playoff game for the revenue to the city ever comes in to play as a head coach. Winning games and getting into the playoffs should be there approach.

it has to BFT. we knew if there was an injury on the O-line what we had in reserve was not going to carry us all year.

whimper, malecki, hubbard, long, batiste and even Wallace now. this should have been seen and adjusted weeks ago. we drafted guys that were not top pass protectors in pouncey, gilbert and adams.

foster has played every year but was always struggling to become a starter. that should have given us a hint not to re-sign him as a main starter. if it's not broke don't fix it, but if it is broke you have to fix it.

Colbert does not impress me at all. I can't put blame on our RB's. Colbert knew and even commented on how they were just not good enough last year yet they remained all preseason and into the season for one. it seems with Colbert if you have an OK year we should throw money at you and make you the starter.

look no further than larry foote or AB. AB is not a #1 WR that is going to be your go to guy. in crunch time we went to sanders and cotchery. AB more often then not disappears in games for long spells. why did he get all the money?

we gave sanders a little more when we might lose him and if he has an OK year, I wouldn't be surprised if Colbert pays him even if just OK will be good enough.

as for larry, sorry he's going out injured but he has no business anymore being a starter on this team and never should have been re-signed to be a starter. short term or not. that was last years excuse. yet Colbert keeps him as such and made no real move to get a starter worthy guy in here.

I could go on and on but I won't for now. the last time we went cheap on the o-line a couple of years ago and only kept 8 the same thing happened. we had an injury and were very short of quality players to take over.

we have had TE trouble for years tumen , DJ, McCoy,even spaeth and bringing him back. just about everyone but heath. well you have to plan beyond heath and keep trying to get a player capable of blocking and catching as a backup. we have one or the other and Colbert seems alright with that. to many bandaid's being given to, to big of roles. ok I wasn't done.

tomlin is there just as a pubblic relation guy , now they will understand that this team cannot survive without a real head coach anymore .

I know there's still a lot of Tomlin supporters on this site, and people love to throw out that Cowher had a few losing seasons too. That is true, but I don't ever recall any of Cowher's teams looking half as bad as Tomlin's teams often do. It's not like this is the first time the Steelers have played this poorly. Over the years we've had far too many of these types of games. Cowher had losing seasons, but his teams always came out and competed.
