anyone think that the game goes different if he doesnt fumble in the endzone? I dont but a buddy of mine said that the fumble with the the fact pouncey went down a few plays before really had the team mentally destroyed. those were his words. i think if your a pro you suck it up and play but I have never been so i am sure i cant speak to it. i do have a friend who played 10 years in the league and he told me to be patient with oline. he thinks mid season they will be good. i told him by then it wont matter we will be 0-8.lol

The score would have been different but I don't know if the outcome would have been.

Unfortunately thats the way its been going for the last 3 years. Bad injuries on the line and stupid stupid stupid mistakes at the worst possible time. That first drive was a microcosm of the past 3 seasons.

I think losing Pouncey changed the outcome of the game more then that fumble. But, they would have been in position to tie at the end of the game if they had scored that first TD, so, yeah, pretty significant.

That is of course if the rest of the game would have gone exactly the same way it did.

Dwyer basically got cut because he had some fumble issues in preseason. so they put all their cards on the table for Redmanm who was hurt all preseason, Howlings who was also hurt for most of the preseason and Jones who looked decent, but only played a couple games and im sure they are hoping like heck that Bell is the savior.

i think they should have kept Dwyer. i dont know if the outcome would have been different, but i would have felt better knowing that they have a guy back there that actually played during the preseason. Redman and Howlings both looked very rusty and Jones didnt even see the ball. greeat coaching.

Why wouldnt it of? Theres no reason to think Titans would have scored more then they did and given Pounceys injury I doubt the Steelers play any better.

yes the fumble injury and the following offensive series showed they lacked mental toughness to put it behind them and play. They were picking them apart slowly up and until that point. After that the defense was playing with heart and pride but the offense was shell shocked.

Why would it have? The score can dictate play calling and decision making (go for it on 4th down, punt vs. attempt a FG, etc.) so there is no guarantee it would have played out the same way.

The old saying "can't make the club in the tub" does not apply in Pittsburgh. Hell, we'll make you the starting running back. It's not like Redman is Arian Foster. If the dude couldn't play all preseason, why is he on the roster. The staff cut the one guy who knows the offense and managed to stay healthy, even though he had the bulk of the preseason carries. Not that it would make much of a difference, this line is god awful and soft.

thats the key word. this team is not going to score points very quick. so when they get down by 2 scores and there is less than 5 minutes to play, you can pretty much mark it as a loss.

Tomlin needs to stop coaching like he is trying to save his job and start coaching like he wants to win. someone started a thread about what does a winless preseason mean. to me it meant a lot, but one thing it did show me was that they have a bunch of young talent and its time to let those guys play.

Yes..I don't know that MENTALLY they crumbled...but just pure numbers tells me...we probably win that game with a TD early..and a 9-0 lead.

    I disagree
I don't think a TD there alters anyones play calling.

The fumble was more than just not getting the points it was a momentum changer. I don't know that we win, but I think the game plays out differently for sure.

    Situational play calling.

Regardless, you can't say that the game definitely would have played out the same or that it definitely wouldn't have. Too many unknown variables.

I agree. That series was a massive momentum shifter.

That is a great example. If one thing changes, it COULD imapct other things. I'm not saying that it absolutely WILL but don't see how you can say it absolutely WON'T.

So IF Redman hadn't fumbled he MIGHT have wound up in the car with his mom trying to make out with him??? Gotcha! LOLOL!!! It was destiny!!! I'm just aggravating and I agree that there's no way to say for sure. All we can say is that it would have LESSENED our chances of losing and that points are never a bad thing.

Still doesn't change anything IMO. 9 point lead, both teams will still try and score the same way as always. Steelers aren't going to sit on a 9 point lead and Titans won't take unnecessary risks to make up 9 points.

Tomlin wasn't prepared for Pouncey going down. They planned to use Beachum as a TE all game and not use Will Johnson so much because he was coming off an injury. So their plan went to hell.
